Apple releases AI model for instruction-based image editing

via The Verge…

Apple released an open-source AI model, called “MGIE,” that can edit images based on natural language instructions. MGIE (MLLM-Guided Image Editing), leverages multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to interpret user commands and perform pixel-level manipulations. The model can handle various editing aspects, such as Photoshop-style modification, global photo optimization, and local editing. MGIE is the result of a collaboration with researchers from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

MGIE integrates MLLMs into the image editing process in two ways: First, it uses MLLMs to derive expressive instructions from user input. For example, given the input “make the sky more blue”, MGIE can produce the instruction “increase the saturation of the sky region by 20%.”

Second, it uses MLLMs to generate visual imagination, a latent representation of the desired edit. This representation captures the essence of the edit and can be used to guide the pixel-level manipulation. MGIE’s training scheme jointly optimizes the instruction derivation, visual imagination, and image editing modules.

MGIE is available as an open-source project on GitHub. The project provides a demo notebook that shows how to use MGIE for various editing tasks. Users can also try out MGIE through a web demo at Hugging Face Spaces.

Franz announces Gruff 9

Franz Inc., an early innovator in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and supplier of knowledge graph technology for Neuro-Symbolic AI applications, announced Gruff 9, a web-based advanced knowledge Graph visualization tool that offers no-code queries, hypergraphs, dynamic graph displays, LLM integration and RDF* (RDFStar) features for building next-generation AI applications.

Gruff 9 provides users the ability to embed natural language LLM queries in SPARQL and visualize and explore the connections displayed in the results. Gruff now provides a unique visualization solution for the emerging RDF* standard from W3C.  The RDF* standard is an improvement over the labeled property graph approach (supported by other vendors) as it allows full hypergraph capabilities.

Gruff 9 is included with AllegroGraph Cloud, Franz’s hosted version of its Neuro-Symbolic AI platform. Gruff and AllegroGraph Cloud offers users a convenient and easy on-ramp to building advanced AI applications.

Franz Inc. recently announced AllegroGraph 8, its Neuro-Symbolic AI Platform that incorporates Large Language Model (LLM) components directly into SPARQL along with vector generation and vector storage for a comprehensive AI Knowledge Graph solution.

Fivetran introduces dbt Cloud orchestration integration

Deepening its relationship with dbt Labs, Fivetran, provider of data integration, today announced its new orchestration integration with dbt Cloud, enabling enterprises to seamlessly manage data movement and transformations using the Fivetran platform. Now, with Fivetran as the hub, dbt Cloud transformations occur immediately and sequentially once data is loaded in a cloud data lake or warehouse, decreasing workflow inefficiencies and costs while ensuring businesses are powered by always-on data.

With a fully automated data pipeline, data teams no longer need to run data integration and transformations independently. Downstream data workflows are now synchronized to automatically run upon completion of fresh data load, rather than a set schedule as had previously been the case.

The new Fivetran-dbt Cloud orchestration streamlines data practices, complexities and costs, while also ensuring companies can do more with their data. In a time where data provides a significant competitive advantage, an automated pipeline is essential. It helps companies make the most informed data-driven decisions and builds the foundation for next-generation data projects.

The new dbt Cloud integration adds to Fivetran’s existing offerings that are aimed to help organizations get from raw data to insights faster, including Fivetran’s Quickstart and pre-built data models.

Uniform announces CMS capabilities for Visual Workspace

Uniform announced the addition of new CMS capabilities to its Uniform Visual Workspace, to expand the basic concept of a CMS from a single-source content repository to unified, multi-source one. This enables brands to leverage content from any source without writing any integration logic, setting up unreliable data synchronization processes, or moving content into yet another repository. In the Visual Workspace, mapping fields from different content sources is done without developer involvement. Localization, versioning and asset management are now part of the Visual Workspace.

For brands who already have one or more CMSs in place, this creates an opportunity to work with a single content model that spans those systems, along with any other content sources they use – be they legacy, monolithic, composable, or bespoke. With generative AI integrated throughout the Visual Workspace, new content can be created almost instantly. Uniform provides guardrails that ensure generative AI is creating accurate, on-brand content, using the language models you choose.
