How to think about open weight models

The race between open and closed AI models is well underway. Stephen O’Grady asks “But how should artifacts as complex as models be considered? What are the dimensions that will shape this race moving forward? There are many angles to consider, but the following are arguably the most important.” A really helpful piece. (13 min)

The preservation gap in the AI stack

Why capability is advancing faster than reconstructability

We all know that managing, governing, and even understanding AI behavior, is a major challenge. In this article Monika Dvorackova is focused on “historical reconstructability”, a missing key capability for governance. Dvorackova clearly explains the problem in the first six paragraphs, then proposes a reference architecture to address it. Madcap announced the Fall 2026 release of MadCap Syndicate

MadCap Software, Inc., a provider of multi-channel content authoring, management and publishing, announced the Fall 2026 release of MadCap Syndicate, an intelligent platform for content delivery, aggregation, and artificial intelligence (AI) enablement. The newest features enrich AI-powered search and analysis, as well as enhanced retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for AI chatbots and agents.

Organizations rely on Syndicate to aggregate, manage and deliver corporate content—turning their knowledge silos into a unified, fully indexed, single source of truth. The enterprise-scale, cloud-based platform enables seamless integration with other systems and applications, advanced search and content filtering, enhanced analytics, role-based permissions and content governance, and robust compliance. The Fall 2026 release builds on the AI capabilities introduced in April 2026, with:

  • New AI-Driven Content Maps enhance content awareness by letting users visualize the semantic relationships between different pieces of content.
  • Expanded, AI-Powered Classification feature adds new AI functionality to improve classification suggestions, support AI readiness, and increase content discoverability.
  • New Model Context Protocol (MCP) support enables AI agents and AI applications to leverage the power of Syndicate’s semantic content retrieval via a common interface instead of requiring custom integrations.
  • Enhanced Portable Document Format (PDF) support now enables semantic analysis and RAG retrieval of individual PDF pages.

Contentstack launches Contentstack Canoe

Contentstack today launched Contentstack Canoe, an AI visibility tool that shows brands how AI search engines describe them and whether their competitors are winning. The company’s first standalone product has a free plan open to any brand, whether or not it uses Contentstack.

Getting started with Contentstack Canoe begins with a brand’s URL:

  • Contentstack Canoe scans the site to identify the business, products, buyer personas and up to ten competitors.
  • Users review and edit that information before Contentstack Canoe generates the questions their buyers are likely to ask.
  • Each question is tagged by buying stage, from awareness through consideration and decision, and Growth users can edit, add or remove any of them.
  • The Free plan runs the generated questions once a month. Growth adds daily or weekly runs, and every plan can run a report on demand after a change.

Each report takes about two minutes and shows whether the brand appeared in AI answers, how it was described, which competitors appeared and which sources the engines cited. Paid plans run ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude side by side in every report, and the Free plan runs ChatGPT and Gemini. Every run ends with a ranked list of what to fix.
