Box Achieves Mobile Ubiquity with New Offerings for Enterprise Platforms

Box has launched three new mobile solutions, with Box for Android Tablet, Box for PlayBook, and an HTML5 compatible mobile browser. These new mobile offerings join Box’s apps for iPad and TouchPad, rounding out the company’s tablet app lineup. Additionally Box launched a rebuilt version of m.box.net, its mobile web offering. The new m.box.net site leverages HTML5 features to enable users to easily view files and folders as well as directly add comments, share new content and search throughout their entire account quickly on any device. www.box.net

Box Announces Google Docs Integration

Box.net announced new integration with Google Docs. Box users can now create, edit and concurrently edit with Google Docs. In the announcing blog post, doubt was expressed by Box.net over Microsoft opening Office 365 to 3rd party developers like themselves, and thus implies that this integration with Google will be the focus of the Box.net platform for the foreseeable future. http://www.box.net/

Acquia Launches Drupal Gardens 1.0

Acquia announced the general availability release of Drupal Gardens 1.0 with new capabilities and pricing plans. Drupal Gardens is a way to build content-rich dynamic sites. Views provides Drupal Gardens with a collection of tools for site builders with the simplicity of software-as-a-service (SaaS) delivery. Without writing any code, Views allows creation of custom mashups or combinations of content, media, user profiles, and more. Site builders can point and click to pull together any information on their site and craft lists, grids, tables, reports, RSS feeds, and navigation. Views can also be configured to display different results based on visitor interactions, such as displaying posts submitted over the past month versus the most popular. With Views, Drupal Gardens sites can be assembled and deployed with dynamic content. Importantly, there is no lock-in for site builders and owners with Drupal Gardens’ OpenSaaS approach. eZ Publish CMS now available in the Cloud

eZ Publish, a provider of enterprise content management solutions, now is available in a cloud version to meet the Web publishing needs of mid- and smaller-sized organizations. Called Granite Horizon In The Cloud, the eZ Publish content management system (CMS) is available on a software as a service (SaaS) basis through Granite Horizon LLC, a California-based web developer and implementer. GH In The Cloud is based on the eZ Publish platform with added extensions and custom features including a basic mobile site version, e-commerce and payment gateway, Google Analytics integration and RSS import/export. The service is hosted at a Tier IV data center with financial grade security and N+2 redundancy for complete reliability. Digi-Data Corporation and Hitachi Data Systems Deliver Cloud Content Management Service

Digi-Data Corporation, a provider of integrated cloud content management solutions, announced partnership with Hitachi Data Systems to offer solutions for telecommunication companies and managed service providers targeting the consumer and SMB markets. Adeptol Partners with VersaPAC

In a move to strengthen reach in the Asian market, Adeptol announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with VersaPAC, a solution provider of information management systems and reseller of HP TRIM records management software.  With the partnership VersaPAC is moving from a legacy viewing system to Adeptol’s document viewing technology embedded in its Saffron web front-end application for HP TRIM. Saffron is available through VersaPAC resellers in Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, North America, and the United Kingdom. The integration allows Saffron to support viewing of over 300 file formats including documents from Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, various image files, and Adobe PDF.  Users will have access to the latest features such as document search, annotations, and document conversion to PDF – all from the viewer. Alfresco Announces Beta of Cloud ECM for SMB

Alfresco Software announced a Beta program for Alfresco SMB Edition, a cloud-based appliance designed for Amazon EC2. This new version of Alfresco Software’s ECM and social collaboration product is designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB). The Alfresco SMB Edition will offer a pre-configured Alfresco Cloud appliance that combines the Alfresco server, Explorer and Share modules into an on-demand offering aimed at SMBs with up to 100 users and 200GB of document storage. These appliances are hosted on Amazon EC2 and made available as paid Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). Alfresco has partnered with JumpBox, who specialize in building software appliances, to develop Alfresco SMB. Initially the beta will be restricted to US based subscribers with EU access to follow within two weeks. The program includes access to the Alfresco SMB paid AMI, although testers are expected to pay all relevant Amazon EC2 hosting fees. The Beta program will run from March 15 through May 20, 2010. http://www.alfresco.com
