Varieties of content management systems (CMS) include: web content management (WCM), enterprise content management (ECM), component content management (CCM), and digital asset management (DAM) systems. Content management systems are also now widely marketed as Digital Experience Management (DEM or DXM, DXP), and Customer Experience Management (CEM or CXM) systems or platforms, and may include additional marketing technology functions.

Content strategy topics include information architecture, content and information models, content globalization, and localization.

MerlinOne introduces visual search for DAM

MerlinOne announced NOMAD, their new technology to search the visual content of objects, with no dependence on textual metadata. Need a photo of four people at a picnic? Just ask NOMAD to find it for you. Organizations may have their photos, graphics, illustrations and videos in a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, but they still cannot find the right object they need while on deadline for a campaign. The problem is the scarcity of useful textual metadata which, so far, has been the only way DAM users can search their collections.

By applying a combination of Deep Learning AI technologies (all developed in-house by MerlinOne) to your search query, NOMAD understands the concept you are looking for and delivers precise results based solely on the visual content of an image, completely independent of the existence or accuracy of its metadata.

NOMAD understands language patterns as well as visual content. Just like it knows to group visually similar images, it also clusters phrases of similar meaning, reducing the dependency on a specific, controlled vocabulary to find what you’re looking for. NOMAD can be combined with other MerlinAI tools such as IMPACT and Visual Similarity to provide additional search capabilities.

Quantum targets exabyte-scale data management with ActiveScale 6.0

Quantum Corporation announced a new release of ActiveScale object storage software they say reshapes the way organizations store, manage, and extract value from their growing stores of unstructured data. ActiveScale 6.0 software delivers unlimited scalability and consistent performance at any scale without compromising data availability, durability, and security. This software is now available as a subscription on qualified platforms including the new ActiveScale X200 platform, a simplified and converged system platform that delivers high-density, high-capacity storage in a small footprint. ActiveScale 6.0 software is also now available for purchase through Supermicro, giving customers more purchasing options and flexibility to deploy ActiveScale software on the platform of their choice.

With ActiveScale, organizations can expand compute, networking, and storage resources for consistent performance with no performance tuning or rebalancing required. The unique, two-layer software architecture optimizes flash and disk resources, employing real-time heuristics to dynamically place data across all system resources in parallel for maximum efficiency and balanced long-term performance. When scaling out with the new platform, capacity, performance and object count are unlimited, creating a unified system cluster that grows to exabytes of capacity and billions of objects. Current ActiveScale customers benefit with the ability to easily expand their existing ActiveScale clusters with the new platform.

Kentico releases Xperience Refresh 2

Kentico released Kentico Experience Refresh 2. The new release includes:

  • Sentiment analysis. A JS or C# integration with Azure Text Sentiment Analysis so marketers can use AI to analyze the sentiment of users’ comments and set up automated responses and notifications depending on the tone of the text. Also, they can measure the sentiment of their own texts directly in the text editor.
  • Copy-pasting widgets in Page Builder. Until now, if editors wanted to use the same widget on a different page, they had to create the same widget with the same settings in another template. Now, copy-pasting up to ten widgets saves time and prevent mistakes.
  • Form Builder Section Properties. New feature enables dividing forms into sections and setting different properties for each of them. Developers can define section properties and then, marketers can add titles, styles, descriptions, or even dynamic layouts anywhere in the form.
  • Creating clean multicultural URLs. Is a new solution for creating URLs of multicultural websites. Culture Alias Support for Dynamic Routing now allows system administrators to define their own culture aliases and use them in URLs for distinguishing different language versions. For example, instead of ‘en-US’, you can use ‘en’ or ‘english’.

Jorsek enhances easyDITA

Jorsek Inc., an SaaS provider of component content management systems (CCMS) to enterprises, announced enhancements to the easyDITA platform. These features improve both the consistency of content creation as well as the delivery of a personalized digital customer experience. easyDITA is a content management ecosystem to optimize the creation, control, and deployment of knowledge, product, and reference content for companies with sophisticated products and services, global audiences or complex regulatory compliance requirements.

The latest version of easyDITA also expands the deployment capabilities by including a new integration with Docusaurus, an open source framework for building simple websites, originally developed by Facebook. Users who need to publish content to a simple, out-of-the-box static site (1,500 topics or fewer), can now integrate with Docusaurus Static Site Generator and their preferred hosting vendors for quick documentation site deployment.

easyDITA includes expanded support for Schematron, an automated way to validate information architecture. easyDITA’s Schematron implementation will automatically check rules relating to structure and business to help you adhere to content quality rules without needing to purchase and integrate an additional tool with your authoring system. Schematron works in the background as writers create content, and prompts them with a notification if they deviate from rules. easyDITA’s XML authoring engine can now be enabled with full Schematron support.

RWS brings back Language Weaver brand

RWS, provider of technology-enabled language, content management, and intellectual property services, announced the return of Language Weaver, a pioneering brand in automatic language translation. Language Weaver, which combines RWS’s linguistic expertise with SDL’s and Iconic’s technologies, will now represent RWS’s machine translation platform.

Founded in 2002 Language Weaver commercialized new approaches to automatic language translation based on machine learning. Acquired by SDL in 2010, the Language Weaver brand was retired in 2015 and renamed SDL Machine Translation. The technology, through continual investment, evolved from statistical machine translation to neural machine translation, capable of instantly translating content across 2,700 language combinations. RWS acquired SDL in 2020, and is now bringing back the Language Weaver brand.

Building machine translation (MT) models has traditionally required specialists. The Language Weaver platform allows anyone to provide real-time feedback on translations and fine-tune generic language models. Behind the scenes the platform also constantly looks for ways to improve the quality of translations. The technology benefits any business or industry dealing with large volumes of multilingual content. Language Weaver can be integrated with any software or platform, from Microsoft Office, to chatbots and eCommerce platforms.

FileCloud releases FileCloud 21.1

FileCloud 21.1, the latest version of the company’s cloud-agnostic enterprise file sync, sharing and data governance platform, places speed and security at the heart of its new update. FileCloud 21.1 is significantly faster than the previous version, with increased efficiency and the ability to handle higher loads. The system software applications have been upgraded for optimal performance on Apache, PHP, MongoDB and SOLR. The customer experience has also been enhanced, with a new, streamlined user interface along with the debut of a log-in wizard that makes setting up and changing the Drive configuration easy.

  • Accessibility improvements mean that FileCloud is now compliant with VPAT Guideline 2.1, which requires that all functionality be available from the keyboard.
  • Seamless integration with Microsoft Office allows users to take advantage of sensitivity labels that users can apply to files. These labels, which travel with the data in FileCloud, ensure security and compliance wherever the file travels.
  • Admins are now tied to roles to make it easier to assign permissions. This gives more control when allowing access to the admin portal.
  • FileCloud Drive will take advantage of Apple’s latest operating system, macOS Big Sur, running Apple silicon.
