Microsoft announces Together Mode and other features for Teams

Microsoft announced a set of new features in Microsoft Teams to make virtual interactions more natural, more engaging, and more human for people at work and in education. They help you feel more connected with your team and reduce meeting fatigue, make meetings more inclusive and engaging, and streamline your work to save time. Together mode is a new meeting experience in Teams that uses AI segmentation technology to digitally place participants in a shared background, making it feel like you’re sitting in the same room with everyone else in the meeting or class. Together mode is designed to make meetings more engaging by helping you focus on other people’s faces and body language and making it easier to pick up on the non-verbal cues that are so important to human interaction. For meetings in which multiple people will speak, such as brainstorms or roundtable discussions, it makes it easier for participants to understand who is talking. Together mode with auditorium view is rolling out now and will be generally available in August. For more information about additional views and features see:

Slack acquires Rimeto

Slack and Rimeto announced that Slack has acquired Rimeto. Rimeto’s advanced profile and directory features will be integrated into Slack directly, but Slack will also continue to offer Rimeto as a standalone product and support their existing enterprise customers. Rimeto offers an enterprise wide, searchable directory, automatically integrating information from across a company to deliver rich profiles of every employee, their skills, experience, and current projects. Channels make it easy to find the information needed to understand what teams are working on. Now with Rimeto it will also be easy to find the people needed and understand the humans you’re working with. The traditional enterprise directory includes pretty limited information, usually what you’d find on a business card, and search is limited the same way. But Rimeto provides search across every attribute — whether for a project leader, everyone who worked with a specific customer, an expert on sales cycles in a particular region, or additional information about a new team member.

Data Conversion Laboratory and Court Square Group partner

Data Conversion Laboratory (DCL) and Court Square Group announced a new partnership for global life sciences organizations. Together, DCL and Court Square Group help the pharma industry’s clinical and drug development process by providing content management and content structure solutions that support every stage of the product life cycle. DCL provides content structure to documents that are critical to support the life sciences industry. For example, DCL’s structured product labeling (SPL) work comprises deconstructing forms-based content and image-based PDFs to create structured markup (XML). DCL applies a layer of metadata to facilitate downstream content discovery and delivers final SPL files to the FDA on behalf of clients. Using artificial intelligence and natural language processing, DCL’s content enrichment services improve content discovery for R&D applications during the development of new drugs or reclassification of pharma agents. The new partnership provides pharmaceutical and biotech companies with an integrated solution that supports compliance to complex SPL, EDMS, eCTD, eTMF and global regulatory submissions, while working in a cloud based, validated environment that meets the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11.

MxHero announced Egnyte integration with Microsoft Outlook

MxHero announced availability of its integration between Microsoft’s Outlook email client and the Egnyte content management platform directly from the Microsoft Outlook AppSource store. The add-in can be installed from within Outlook for Windows, Mac, and OWA (Outlook Web Access). Additional capabilities include download, preview, collaboration, move and deletion of files, folders, and email messages. When saving emails to Egnyte, MxHero optimizes email content for the Egnyte environment by automatically saving the email message as a text-searchable PDF document linked to any attachments that are saved separately. The plugin requires Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016, Outlook.com, or Office 365 with an email that is hosted on a Microsoft Exchange server.

Obie launches Browser extension to accelerate sharing of workplace documents

Obie announced the launch of its new browser extension to democratize access to Obie’s core search, access, and knowledge sharing functionality. They also launched Personal Pro and Personal Free plans that decouple Obie’s search functionality from Slack for the first time to expand availability for individuals and remote teams. Obie uses natural language processing (NLP) to understand complex queries, as well as machine learning (ML) to improve results with every document search. Users can also manually add “FAQs” to store templates, text snippets, and frequently accessed information by simply highlighting the information in their browser and adding it to Obie.

iManage Delivers AI and Knowledge Management to Document Management Users

iManage announced the availability of iManage RAVN Knowledge Unlocked. With Knowledge Unlocked, iManage has productized Knowledge Management and RAVN AI, making them accessible to a broader market through packaged solutions that are easy to deploy and use, and integrated with their document and email management product, iManage Work 10. iManage enables law firms, legal departments, and professional services organizations of any size to use AI with Work 10 plug-ins that minimize the need for dedicated Knowledge Management (KM) staff, AI expertise, or outside services. IT-implemented and user-driven, Knowledge Unlocked enables knowledge workers to capture and reuse important data locked in data repositories, mine best practices, and identify knowledge and experts across their organizations to get to the information they need, when they need it.

Knowledge Unlocked brings together various KM and AI capabilities – including classification, search, and machine learning – in an integrated package, taking what would previously have been individual products and combining them to solve specific KM problems with greater efficiency. The solution extends the document retrieval-oriented search of Work 10 to knowledge search that enables organizations to surface relevant matters, clauses, people or expertise that could be of value to the user.

Knowledge Unlocked is available in three editions – Essentials, Professional, and Enterprise – each with an increasing level of capability and sophistication. The tiers have been designed so that organizations don’t have to go through expensive system replacement to get to the next level in AI – they can continue to build upon Knowledge Unlocked.

Semantic Web Company and Ontotext partner to advance enterprise knowledge graphs

Ontotext (OT) and Semantic Web Company (SWC) announced a strategic partnership to meet the requirements of enterprise architects such as deployment, monitoring, resilience, and interoperability with other enterprise IT systems and security. Users will be able to work with a feature-rich toolset to manage a graph composed of billions of edges that is hosted in data centers around the world. The companies have implemented an integration of the PoolParty Semantic SuiteTM v.8 with the GraphDB and Ontotext Platform, which offers benefits for numerous use cases:

  • GraphDB powering PoolParty: Most of the knowledge graph management tools out there bundle open-source solutions that are good at managing thousands of concepts, whereas PoolParty bundled with GraphDB manages millions of concepts and entities—without extra deployment overheads.
  • PoolParty linked to high-availability GraphDB cluster: GraphDB can now be used as an external store for PoolParty, which offers a combination of performance, scalability and resilience. This is particularly relevant for organizations intent on developing tailor-made knowledge graph platforms integrated into their existing data and content management infrastructure.
  • Dynamic text analysis using big knowledge graphs: PoolParty can be used to edit big knowledge graphs in order to tune the behavior of Ontotext’s text analysis pipelines, which employ vast amounts of domain knowledge to boost precision. This way the power and comprehensiveness of generic off-the-shelf natural language processing (NLP) pipelines can be custom-tailored to an enterprise.
  • GraphQL benefits for PoolParty: Application developers can now access the knowledge graph via GraphQL to build end-user applications or integrate knowledge graph services with the functionality of existing systems. Ontotext Platform uses semantic business objects, defined by subject matter experts and business analysts, to generate GraphQL interfaces and transform them into SPARQL.
