ebXML Approved

UN/CEFACT and OASIS announced that participants from around the world approved ebXML specifications at a meeting in Vienna, Austria on 11 May 2001. ebXML, which began as an 18-month initiative sponsored by UN/CEFACT and OASIS, is a modular suite of specifications that enables enterprises of any size and in any geographical location to conduct business over the Internet. Using ebXML, companies now have a standard method to exchange business messages, conduct trading relationships, communicate data in common terms and define and register business processes. ebXML specifications and technical reports are available at no charge on www.ebxml.org. Approved specifications include ebXML Technical Architecture, Business Process Specification Schema, Registry Information Model, Registry Services, ebXML Requirements, Message Service and Collaboration-Protocol Profile and Agreement. Accepted ebXML Technical Reports include: Business Process and Business Information Analysis Overview, Business Process Analysis Worksheets & Guidelines, E-Commerce Patterns, Catalog of Common Business Processes, Core Component Overview, Core Component Discovery and Analysis, Context and Re-Usability of Core Components, Guide to the Core Components Dictionary, Naming Convention for Core Components, Document Assembly and Context Rules, Catalogue of Context Drivers, Core Component Dictionary, Core Component Structure and Technical Architecture Risk Assessment. RosettaNet plans to integrate support for the ebXML Messaging Services Specification in future releases of their Implementation Framework (RNIF). The Global Commerce Initiative, which represents manufacturers and retailers of consumer goods, chose to base their new Internet protocol standard for trading exchanges and B2B communications on ebXML. Mediasurface Unveils Mediasurface 3.5

Mediasurface introduced the next version of its content management application software, Mediasurface 3.5. The new release has three key attributes designed to distinguish it from other content management applications: Interaction – supports user roles, rules and processes and allows contributors, whether inside or outside the organization, to interactively create content while adhering to business processes through its flexible workflow capabilities; Intelligence – Combines knowledge and content management into Mediasurface 3.5, enabling the user community to intelligently store and retrieve content when needed; and Integration – New integration capabilities, including pre-built adapters for application servers, commerce applications and content exchange tools, along with a software developer’s kit. Mediasurface 3.5 includes a deep integration at the server level with APIs from Autonomy Dynamic Reasoning Reason Engine and Oracle Intermedia. Mediasurface 3.5 includes integration adapters to provide out-of-the-box integration with e-business products in a wide range of categories (CRM, e-Commerce, B2B marketplace, application servers, localization, digital channels and content exchange). The Mediasurface 3.5 software development kit (SDK) provides developers with the facilities — technical interfaces, open standards including XML, J2EE, LDAP and SQL, sample code, and best practices — to develop their own adapters and leverage many of the core features and extension points of the Mediasurface architecture. Eprise Announces Technology Alliance with ATG

Eprise Corporation announced that it has formed a technology alliance with Art Technology Group, Inc. SupplyAccess Launches Catalog Content & Supplier Integration Services

SupplyAccess, Inc. announced the availability of SupplyAccess Content Services, an outsourced solution that manages catalog content and automates the processes surrounding transaction integration across different eCommerce platforms. SupplyAccess’ single marketplace model reduces the time required to obtain, validate and aggregate catalog data from suppliers for use in eProcurement applications or private marketplaces. Digital Goods Partners With Groove to Create P2P Environment for Selling Content

Digital Goods announced a business partnership with Groove Networks to develop an entirely new, more affordable and efficient way for content providers to create and widely distribute storefronts for secure sale of their digital products. The initial promise of the Digital Goods-Groove applications or “tools” is subscription-based sales of digital content for the business marketplace, such as financial and investment research, corporate intelligence and other time-sensitive products, as well as business training and education materials. Under the agreement, Digital Goods is adapting its content management technology and Amplifi marketing and eCommerce tools to work in concert with the distributed computing platform developed by Groove Networks, enabling secure one-to-many and peer-to-peer commercial distribution and management of digital content. Using the Digital Goods applications, content providers will be able to distribute storefronts or subscription modules through one or many Groove “shared spaces,” which enable businesses or individual consumers to synchronize and store content locally on their desktops. Percussion Expands Partner Program

Percussion Software announced the expansion of its partnership program to include solution partners. This partnership category will focus on collaborating with regional systems integrators (SIs), who will provide their expertise to integrate Percussion’s Rhythmyx Content Manager as part of a larger system, or with the products from Percussion’s technology partners. The goal of Percussion’s partner program is to improve customer service to current users and generate new business for Rhythmyx. The partners being targeted – primarily regional SIs with e-Commerce experience – will extend Percussion’s professional services for customer implementation. Additionally, the partner program will enable Percussion to expand its reach into numerous vertical markets, such as financial services, publishing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, cross media, government and manufacturing. Percussion is targeting mid-tier SIs to handle specific regions of the country and/or specific vertical markets in order to provide the strongest customer service possible. The Company will work with the partner to build its Rhythmyx practice with Percussion selling the software and the partner providing the service. Digital Goods & Texterity Partner

Digital Goods and Texterity, Inc. announced an agreement that will extend Digital Goods’ Amplifi content marketing/eCommerce solution from the publisher’s desktop to storefronts across the Internet. Under the agreement, Texterity’s TextCafe, an automated service that converts PDF, Quark or Word files to XML and Open eBook formats, will be offered by Digital Goods to its content partners. Texterity’s service bridges the digital document preparation gap between publishers’ systems and Digital Goods’ Amplifi Internet distribution/sales tools and services. Texterity also will make Digital Goods’ Amplifi the recommended digital content marketing solution for its content conversion customers. Interwoven Launches TeamCatalog

Interwoven, Inc. announced the release of Interwoven TeamCatalog. Combined with Interwoven TeamSite, TeamCatalog offers a comprehensive platform to enable customers to automate both their product and Web content processes to power multiple eBusiness initiatives. With TeamCatalog, customers will be able to assemble and manage catalog content, while automating the processes necessary to ensure product information is “transaction-ready.” Interwoven TeamCatalog provides a software platform for managing product data that meets the demands of enterprises, B2B marketplaces, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers, who need to aggregate, create, categorize, refresh and distribute eCatalogs.
