Inktomi Announces Enterprise Search 4.3

Inktomi Corp. announced enhancements to Inktomi Enterprise Search software as well as an end-to-end solution for optimizing and searching corporate content. Inktomi Enterprise Search 4.3 includes an interface for indexing metadata created in content management and classification applications, the ability to insert direct links to popular documents in search results and expanded support for database content. Additionally, the company introduced Inktomi Search Architect Edition, a solution that combines Inktomi Enterprise Search with content optimization tools to automate the process of developing easy-to-search content. Inktomi Search Architect Edition combines Watchfire Enterprise Solution with Inktomi Enterprise Search 4.3 for automating the practice of preparing content for search engine indexing. Inktomi Search Architect Edition automatically scans and analyzes enterprise content for problems that can impact its ability to be searched and quickly and accurately adds keyword metadata (such as page titles, alt tags, author tags and description tags) to improve the accessibility and ranking of that content. AltaVista Software Announces IBM WebSphere Support

AltaVista Software announced the availability of AltaVista Enterprise Search and AltaVista.com search capabilities for IBM’s WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Portal. AltaVista’s integration with WebSphere Application Server allows AltaVista Software to become the user’s default technology and is accessible to any application layered onto this foundation. Within the WebSphere Portal, AltaVista Software delivers integrations, or “portlets”, to give customers, secure, single point access to content. The AltaVista Software search portlets provide an interface that supports simultaneous queries of multiple sources of information, including databases, documents, intranets and the Internet. Interwoven Announces MetaTagger 3.0

Interwoven, Inc. announced the release of MetaTagger 3.0. With MetaTagger 3.0, Interwoven delivers a complete solution to automatically capture, classify and control metadata enterprise-wide. MetaTagger 3.0 includes automated taxonomy discovery including a visual vocabulary builder, automated tagging and seamless integration with Interwoven’s Content Infrastructure products including TeamSite, TeamSite Templating and OpenDeploy software. MetaTagger examines collections of legacy content and automatically discovers a custom taxonomy, and provides a visual environment to easily search, edit and tune these custom-generated taxonomies. Inktomi Corp. and Interwoven, Inc. announced an agreement to deliver a combined solution that will offer an enhanced search experience by providing access to the most current and accurate corporate content. The Inktomi-Interwoven alliance will enable Inktomi Enterprise Search to immediately index documents managed by Interwoven TeamSite and MetaTagger. The alliance will more closely link the content creation and discovery process by enabling Inktomi Enterprise Search to automatically index documents managed by Interwoven’s content management software. The search engine will instantly crawl new documents as soon as they are published, allowing enterprises to maintain a more current index and ensure that users have immediate access to new corporate information. Computer Associates Announces CleverPath ECM

Computer Associates International, Inc. announced the availability of CleverPath Enterprise Content Manager (ECM). CleverPath ECM extends the collaboration-and-community capabilities of CA’s CleverPath Portal to simplify management of all types of content across the enterprise using a graphical Portal interface. Supported content types include data, images, multimedia, presentations, spreadsheets, documents, email and text. CleverPath ECM provides comprehensive content management capabilities for these diverse content types — including storage and access management, process automation and workflow administration, version control and secure check-in/check-out functions. CleverPath ECM stores and manages metadata for all content types. Its type-specific plug-ins can be developed to scan content as it is loaded to extract this metadata. Other media services, such as thumbnail creation, can also be automated for streamlined workflow. Semio Announces Technology Alliance with Antarcti.ca

Semio Corporation announced that it is forming a technology alliance with Antarcti.ca Systems. The companies will offer enterprises a unique Graphical User Interface for their categorized data.
