Content management is a broad topic that refers to the management of unstructured or semi-structured content as a standalone system or a component of another system. Varieties of content management systems (CMS) include: web content management (WCM), enterprise content management (ECM), component content management (CCM), and digital asset management (DAM) systems. Content management systems are also now widely marketed as Digital Experience Management (DEM or DXM, DXP), and Customer Experience Management (CEM or CXM) systems or platforms, and may include additional marketing technology functions.

EMC Documentum Releases Enterprise Content Integration Services

EMC Corporation announced the immediate availability of EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Integration (ECI) Services, a software product that enables users to discover, access and assimilate structured and unstructured information from multiple internal and external sources, in multiple languages, with one query. Through a single sign on, Documentum ECI Services enables integration of heterogeneous content — from enterprise applications, databases, content management systems and groupware to Internet sources, such as web search engines, industry-specific databases, local archives, government portals and syndicated content providers. Analytics capabilities enable end-users to access and analyze the results of their queries across multilingual content sources. Documentum ECI Services is part of the EMC’s virtual repository strategy that enables customers to discover and manage unstructured content wherever it resides. In developing Documentum ECI Services, EMC incorporated technology acquired from the askOnce business unit of Xerox Corporation. Documentum ECI Services can be used in conjunction with the Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform, with other content management products or as a standalone tool. Hummingbird to Offer Attunity Products for Data Integration

Attunity, Ltd. announced a technology partnership with Hummingbird Ltd. Hummingbird will offer the Attunity product family as an add-on component of Hummingbird Genio, the data integration component of Hummingbird Integration Suite. Hummingbird Genio is a data integration solution that spans the functional areas of data extract, transformation, and load (ETL) and EAI, for projects that might include data warehouses or data marts. Once in a consolidated data warehouse users can perform various forms of analysis upon it. Attunity Connect is a family of pre-built, standards-based adapters to mainframe and other legacy data sources, providing high-performance and native access. Attunity Stream is a change data capture product that moves data changes across the enterprise. Vignette Launches Records & Document Management Suite

Vignette Corp. released Vignette Records & Documents, providing customers with a platform that delivers compliance, risk management and business automation within a single framework. The release of Vignette Records & Documents is a result of integrating applications secured in Vignette’s recent acquisition of TOWER Technology. Vignette Records & Documents helps customers meet compliance obligations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Vignette is also committed to support the U.K. National Archives (PRO) 2002 Functional Requirements for Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS) and will seek the National Archives’ approval of Vignette Records & Documents against the PRO 2002 ERMS requirements. Vignette also announced enhanced storage and retrieval support for Vignette IDM, providing customers with an information management system to help the transitioning from paper to high-volume digital processes. Etronica, Inc. announced the release of PublishPal, a website management system designed to help small organizations maintain sophisticated websites. INSCI Releases WebWare ActiveMedia 5.5

INSCI Corp. announced the release of WebWare ActiveMedia 5.5, the latest version of its Web services- based digital asset management (DAM) software. New feature, ActiveSecurity, provides a metadata-driven security model. By simply updating a metadata field, administrators can change which individuals can gain access to an asset. Security management and rapid workflow capabilities are further enhanced through single sign-on capability (SSO). Also new in ActiveMedia 5.5, Task Filters are an administrative capability that enable dynamic distribution of assets to predefined user workspaces. This facilitates collaboration and automated workflow by presenting users with only those assets required for their project role or stage in the review and approval process. INSCI is introducing new Desktop Connections for QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign and a Video Ingestion & Delivery Tool. Informative Graphics Releases Beta Version of Brava! Enterprise ActiveX Content Visualization Server

Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC) announced the release of its Brava! Enterprise content visualization server with an ActiveX client. The beta version will be followed by a full production release in the fourth quarter of 2004. A full evaluation of the ActiveX beta is available by request until September 30, 2004. Brava Enterprise ActiveX allows users to view native office documents, PDF files, TIFF images, AutoCAD and other CAD software drawings, as well as apply markups and annotations without changing original files. Brava Enterprise also allows organizations to share content with outside organizations for view and markup securely, without distributing files or requiring additional software. Brava Enterprise ActiveX creates and views IGC’s new Content Sealed Format (CSF), which incorporates the Visual Rights security framework. Visual Rights gives authors selective and persistent security controls over their content. Markups can be “burned-in” to CSF files, and a new Block-out function (redaction) allows users to hide specific file content from view, text search, and print.
