Content management is a broad topic that refers to the management of unstructured or semi-structured content as a standalone system or a component of another system. Varieties of content management systems (CMS) include: web content management (WCM), enterprise content management (ECM), component content management (CCM), and digital asset management (DAM) systems. Content management systems are also now widely marketed as Digital Experience Management (DEM or DXM, DXP), and Customer Experience Management (CEM or CXM) systems or platforms, and may include additional marketing technology functions.

DocuLex & dtSearch Announce DocuLex Desktop Search

DocuLex and dtSearch announced a new version of DocuLex Desktop Search. With the dtSearch terabyte indexer embedded, the latest release can index over a terabyte of data in a single index, up from 4-8 gigabytes of text per index. The application can also create and simultaneously search an unlimited number of indexes. DocuLex Desktop Search can run both as a standalone PC application, and a client-server application, searching both PC-based content and network-based content in a concurrent-search environment. The application provides over two dozen hit-highlighted search options. Through a built-in Spider, the application can also add Internet and Intranet sites to a search with integrated results. DocuLex Desktop Search (with the embedded dtSearch), whether running in a stand-alone or client-server capacity, can index and search HTML, XML and PDF (including OCR output to PDF), with highlighted hits and with embedded images, links and formatting intact. Other file types that the application displays with highlighted hits include: word processor, database, spreadsheet, presentation and similar “Office” files; and email message stores (MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express, MS Exchange, Eudora and other .MSG formats) along with the full-text of attachments, ZIP files, and CSV files.

Vignette Releases Collaboration 7.0

Vignette Corp. (NASDAQ:VIGN) unveiled Vignette Collaboration release 7.0, the latest version of its enterprise collaboration product. Vignette Collaboration brings synchronous and asynchronous collaboration together in one interface, and includes packaged integration with the Instant Messaging server Microsoft Live Communications Server for enhanced synchronous communications. The product’s internationalization enables organizations to display, store, and search content authored in any Unicode supported language simultaneously, including Eastern European and Asian languages (e.g. Russian, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Simplified or Traditional Chinese and more). In addition, Hierarchical Group Support provides easier administration of access policies through better mappings to company directories; Search Engine Enhancements improve search engine integration and robustness; Administration Console Enhancements provide a simplified interface; Reduction of the number of clicks for common actions and provide in-place editing of documents, and more. SearchBlox Unveils Content Search Software for the OEMs

SearchBlox Software, Inc. has released Version 3.1 of its Content Search Software with a REST-API that allows custom content to be indexed and searched. Other new features in this release include Spelling Suggestions for search queries and support for JDK 1.5. The API is available in the SearchBlox Free Edition, the Enterprise Edition and the Distributed Edition for Akamai EdgeComputing Platform. SearchBlox is available as a Web Component for all major J2EE Application Servers and as a standalone application for Windows and Mac OS X platforms.
