Content management is a broad topic that refers to the management of unstructured or semi-structured content as a standalone system or a component of another system. Varieties of content management systems (CMS) include: web content management (WCM), enterprise content management (ECM), component content management (CCM), and digital asset management (DAM) systems. Content management systems are also now widely marketed as Digital Experience Management (DEM or DXM, DXP), and Customer Experience Management (CEM or CXM) systems or platforms, and may include additional marketing technology functions.

Serendipity 1.5.2 released

Serendipity 1.5.2 has been released to address the outstanding issue of SQLite installations with Serendipity. SDL Consolidates Brand

SDL plc has consolidated branding in order to be recognized globaly under a single brand. Through a series of acquisitions and research and development investment, SDL has expanded its technology footprint from Language Technology into Structured Content Technologies, Web Content Management and most recently eCommerce Technologies. To better convey SDL’s end-to-end content platform, the company is relaunching as a new consolidated brand. As of now, all business units in SDL, including SDL Tridion, SDL XySoft and SDL TRADOS Technologies, SDL Enterprise Technologies and SDL Language Services, will be referred to as divisions of SDL. EntropySoft Adds Open Text Vignette Connector

EntropySoft announced the commercial release of an Open Text Vignette Content Management connector. Features for the read/write connector include preparing Vignette content for search, e-discovery, Records Management or for daily document transfers. This connector aims to facilitate web publishing of content coming from different sources and speed up the update of sites. The connector should also be able to integrate vertical applications working with Vignette content. The EntropySoft Vignette Content Management connector works with the Vignette Management Console API. The connector is a single java library, a .jar file. The EntropySoft Vignette connector allows the creation and modification of Vignette objects such as sites, channels, projects and documents. The Vignette connector will be CMIS-compliant when the specification is available. Glyph Launches Free Mobile App Localization Program

Glyph Language Services has launched a limited time offer to localize mobile applications and games for free. New clients can receive localization and emulator testing services for one Android or iPhone app in one target language. Box.net Announces New Features

Box.net announced two new features that affect how its users view and share content on the Box platform. The first feature is an integrated content viewer that provides full-viewing capabilities online for a range of files inside the Box environment. The second feature, to be released over the next few weeks, aims to make it easy for users to share and embed all types of files anywhere on the web. These new capabilities are a result of Box.net’s recent acquisition of Increo Solutions and represent a step towards transitioning more users from a desktop environment and into Cloud-based content management. The integrated content viewer and embedding features support popular file formats, including Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, images, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator files, audio and video. The ability to view and share content regardless of desktop software is geared towards a mobile and web-based workforce. Cloud Content Management facilitates sharing that is also trackable, giving IT departments visibility into how content moves within an organization and beyond. Open Text Corporation announced the release of Vignette Content Management 8. Vignette Content Management 8 introduces a new design aimed to let business users to create websites, microsites and landing pages on-demand, while staying within branding and technical guidelines. The design caters to specific personas in marketing or other departments, providing tools, designs and other resources based on their roles. Vignette Content Management 8 offers a way to create and manage Web experiences by streamlining the management of Web layouts and structures. Kryos Updates TitanWEB Online Content Management Software

Calgary’s Kryos Systems has updated its TitanWEB Content Management System. TitanWEB 4.2 is built around the IBM Lotus Domino technology architecture and allows non-technical trained staff the ability to keep websites current with features like embedded video clips, cross-functional compatibility with social media sites like Twitter, RSS feeds, Google map integration, and other traditionally ‘professional only’ features. The software allows any user to schedule pages to publish at specific time intervals, restrict content to specific audiences, and perform other management tasks faster than was possible previously.
