Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ), EDGAR Online, Inc. (Nasdaq:EDGR), and Ipedo announced an XBRL-enhanced business intelligence (XBRL-BI) solution to enable organizations to efficiently access financial information to drive more accurate financial analysis and business decisions. The XBRL-BI solution leverages the capabilities of BusinessObjects XI, EDGAR Online’s I-Metrix suite of XBRL-based products, and Ipedo XIP, an enterprise information integration platform. Utilizing financial filings from EDGAR Online’s I-Metrix Web Service and Ipedo’s XIP integration platform, BusinessObjects XI allows research analysts, institutional investors, fund managers, regulators, and corporate officers to gain insight into market conditions directly from corporate filings, as they happen. The integrated XBRL-BI solution, based on eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), combines financial domain knowledge with data integration practices to deliver a pre-built data repository ready for financial analysis. EDGAR Online’s proprietary systems convert existing SEC data into XBRL, and then make it available via its I-Metrix suite of products. Ipedo then pulls the XBRL-tagged financial data from the EDGAR Online I-Metrix service, processes the financial data and business context, and delivers it to an XBRL-enhanced BusinessObjects universe, for use with the BusinessObjects XI business intelligence platform using Crystal Reports or BusinessObjects Web Intelligence. http://www.xbrl.org, http://www.businessobjects.com, , http://www.ipedo.com

RSD announced the release of EOS Thin Client 3.4 with functionality designed to transparently customize the presentation of and access to content. Form management, a new feature available in its Web-based control panel, permits the administrator to set defaults for the activation of predefined actions when content is delivered on-line. These settings, which can be applied to all content or to specific groups of documents, provide the administrator with the means to tailor the presentation of content and protect against unauthorized export or e-mailing of sensitive information. When accessed, a document can automatically be converted from a print format to a viewing format. Content that is set up as a table can routinely be displayed so that headers and side titles are visible as the user scrolls through it. The process of printing can be streamlined with appropriate defaults for font size and page orientation.
Data mining is made easier by its automatic activation when a document is accessed. To address strategic and security requirements of specific organizations unable to use applets for content viewing, EOS Thin Client now delivers direct HTML viewing abilities. EOS Thin Client 3.4 offers a consistent means of administering, managing and retrieving all types of business information.
Dassault Systemes announced the free availability of the 3D XML Specifications and Player, which will enable users to view and manipulate rich 3D data in a variety of industrial, consumer and commercial environments. 3D XML is a universal, lightweight XML-based format that enables users to share live, accurate 3D data. Moreover, all members of the CAA V5 and SolidWorks developer communities will de-facto endorse the 3D XML format and will deploy it on a wide scale to their end-users. The 3D XML Player leverages the 3D XML Specifications and extends the use of 3D beyond traditional PLM applications. 3D content can now be incorporated into a variety of media, including but not limited to technical documentation, maintenance manuals, marketing brochures, websites, and email. The 3D XML Player is designed to work with a wide range of application suites, including Microsoft Office, on the web with the Internet Explorer browser or as a standalone application.
