Content management is a broad topic that refers to the management of unstructured or semi-structured content as a standalone system or a component of another system. Varieties of content management systems (CMS) include: web content management (WCM), enterprise content management (ECM), component content management (CCM), and digital asset management (DAM) systems. Content management systems are also now widely marketed as Digital Experience Management (DEM or DXM, DXP), and Customer Experience Management (CEM or CXM) systems or platforms, and may include additional marketing technology functions.

ClearForest Releases Text Analytics 6.0 Platform

ClearForest Corp. announced availability of its Text Analytics 6.0 platform to enable organizations to analyze unstructured text and enterprise data simultaneously. New developments include system management software, an administrative dashboard, upgrades to development tools and integrated extraction-categorization capabilities. Release 6.0 may be deployed as a stand-alone analytic application supporting specific queries, visual analytics and reports, or fully integrated within an existing Business Intelligence system such as those offered by Cognos or Business Objects. Examples of unstructured text sources include web-based news articles or research as well as other electronic formats such as emails, PDF, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint. Interwoven Acquires Assets from Records Management Firm

Interwoven, Inc. announced the acquisition of the assets of Software Intelligence, Inc., a provider of records management (RM) systems. Software Intelligence’s RM product will be renamed Interwoven Records Manager, and will enable companies to manage paper documents, electronic documents and e-mail under a single unified records system. Interwoven purchased the assets of Software Intelligence for approximately $2 million in cash and stock. Interwoven Records Manager will initially be integrated with Interwoven WorkSite, the company’s document management and collaboration solution. Enterprises will be able to establish and implement a single, coordinated management and retention strategy for records across all types of media, including paper, e-mail, scanned images and electronic documents, at the client, project, folder or box level, in their original context. The solution gives end users ways to access and manage both electronic and paper files from a single interface in the context of their work. FeedStream Launches FLUiD CMS 4.5

FeedStream Inc. announced the launch of FLUiD CMS 4.5, the latest version of their Web Content Management System (CMS). FLUiD CMS 4.5 is an XML-based CMS that simplifies creating and managing a professional Web site. Sites are developed using the FLUiD CMS 4.5 template so they are easy to navigate and optimized for search engine ranking. The word processor interface used within FLUiD CMS 4.5 is a Web-enhanced version of the OpenOffice.org Writer authoring component. Wolfram Research Releases Technical Documentation Solution

Wolfram Publicon, a new integrated software solution for composing sophisticated technical documents, is now available from Wolfram Research. Created for the growing number of academic researchers, students, and industry professionals who need to create or publish documents with technical content, Publicon produces platform- independent files that can be exported to HTML, XML, LaTeX, or custom Publicon formats. Phoenix Systems Integration Releases Lotus Notes Connector for Documentum

Phoenix Systems Integration announced the release of Phoenix Notes Connector – a solution that brings together the enterprise-class messaging, calendaring and scheduling capabilities of IBM’s Lotus Notes with the global and enterprise-wide content management solutions of Documentum. Phoenix Notes Connector Features / Functionality include: the ability to archive from Lotus Notes folders; document types available for archive are configurable; archived messages retain header, footer, formatting and color information; and e-mail and attachments can be stored in the same, or separate, Docbase locations. Users can: navigate to Docbase locations to save e-mail and/or attachments; version documents with newer attachments; “Send and Archive” with a single command; search using Documentum’s “Find” tool, including full-text search ability; navigate to Docbase locations to find e-mail and/or attachments; and attach multiple documents at a time. Interwoven E-mail Management Solution to Encompass Lotus Notes

Interwoven, Inc. announced that it is extending its e-mail Management solution to support businesses using Lotus Notes. The new E-mail Management for Notes solution is an addition to already available solutions for Microsoft Outlook and Novell GroupWise. Interwoven’s E-mail Management solution is based on Interwoven WorkSite 8, a collaborative document management system. Microsoft Announces Web Part Toolkits & Web Services Toolkit for SharePoint Products

Microsoft Corp. announced two new Web Part toolkits and a Web services toolkit for Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies that enable them to connect systems from multiple vendors using XML Web services standards. Available at no charge on GotDotNet.com, and complete with source code, the two Web Part toolkits represent additions to Microsoft’s array of XML Web Parts by facilitating the integration of Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services sites with information line-of-business applications from SAP AG and other vendors. Microsoft’s WSRP Web Part Toolkit for SharePoint Products and Technologies leverages the Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) specification created by the OASIS to enable developers to build portlets that interact with other portal sites regardless of the business system they use. The WSRP Web Part Toolkit includes a ready-to-install “consumer” component that displays WSRP portlet services provided by a variety of vendors within Web Part pages hosted by Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
