Content management is a broad topic that refers to the management of unstructured or semi-structured content as a standalone system or a component of another system. Varieties of content management systems (CMS) include: web content management (WCM), enterprise content management (ECM), component content management (CCM), and digital asset management (DAM) systems. Content management systems are also now widely marketed as Digital Experience Management (DEM or DXM, DXP), and Customer Experience Management (CEM or CXM) systems or platforms, and may include additional marketing technology functions.

Day Releases Content Repository Extreme (CRX)

Day Software (SWX:DAYN)(OTC:DYIHY) announced the general availability of Day Content Repository Extreme (CRX), a new product that enables the storage, management and exchange of content across large-scale enterprises. Day CRX provides a standards-based infrastructure for integrating business applications with any structured or unstructured content in an enterprise. New features in Day CRX enable the exchange of high-value content between applications and repositories. Day’s CRX offers complete support for the recently approved Java technology standards for content management, JSR 170. The Content Repository for Java technology API was developed through the Java Community Process (JCP) program. By natively supporting JSR 170 in Day CRX, the new product enables applications to store, manage and access content in a Java technology-based repository, regardless of which platform, database, storage device, business or Web application was used to create the content. Day CRX provides full support for all of the functionality defined in the JSR 170 specification, including Level I, Level II and optional features. Day CRX includes capabilities that support the following JSR 170 standard specifications for content repositories: workspaces, hierarchy, reading and writing, nodes and properties, serialization, transactions, versioning, observation, access control, locking, and search via the new JSR query language and/or XPath queries. Xerox Announces 24 Products – Bundles Workflow with DocuShare

Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) announced 24 new digital products, software and services. Xerox unveiled its latest suite of office multifunction systems, printers, digital copiers and software, along with IT services designed to track, analyze and optimize how customers manage fleets of office devices. Xerox is now bundling its DocuShare content management software with its FreeFlow SMARTsend workflow software. This offering allows customers to integrate hardcopy documents into digital work processes to reduce costs and comply with industry regulations. Xerox also announced 10 partner solutions designed to control costs and streamline document-intensive processes. These offerings extend the capabilities of Xerox advanced MFPs to help solve problems related to cost accounting, document scanning and routing, making emergency notifications and managing forms. FCG Launches FirstDoc Version 3.3

FirstDoc 3.3 includes enhanced XML capabilities and a re-architected enterprise object model to enable more flexible content sharing and better business process harmonization across functional areas. FirstDoc 3.3’s XML capabilities enable life sciences organizations to move away from formatting documents manually and reduce the effort to format content for other media types. Workshare Unveils Freeware to Discover Privacy & Compliance Violations in Microsoft Office Documents

Workshare announced the immediate availability of TRACE! V2, a free meta-ware utility for Microsoft Office users that automatically alerts individuals to the risk levels in the documents they touch. TRACE! V2 discovers content that violates federal regulations, corporate policy or personal privacy. TRACE! V2 runs continuous audits, alerting users to violations. TRACE! V2 comes with a document security management console that provides controls for scanning folders, emails and websites and visibility to recent document alerts. It also provides reporting on all documents, run either dynamically or in batch mode. TRACE! V2 improves on the hidden data capabilities of V1 to include document content analysis and exposes risks in the areas of intellectual property, financial disclosure, privacy and identity, profanity and regulatory restrictions. TRACE! V2 dynamically tracks nearly 100 content security risks and provides always-on alerts to users with risk level warnings of problems in new and existing documents. TRACE! V2 analysis combines document content with taxonomy. This capability can differentiate between the normally benign use of the word “confidential” in the document body versus its highly risky presence in document headers or footers. TRACE! Antenna House Announces XSL Formatter V3.3

Antenna House, Inc. announced that XSL Formatter V3.3, their newest XSL-FO processor, is now available. As an option Antenna House is offering with V3.3 the ability to output SVG files. The SVG output option supports the creation of SVG, SVG Tiny and SVG Basic. V3.3 also offers improvements to the GUI and many new enhancements that have been implemented through FO extensions. These include: SVG Output using the new SVG Output Option, Text and Property search in GUI, Printer marks can now be output, PDF Annotations can now be output, The Radii of box corners and box shadows can be specified for borders, Column setting within the fo:block-container is now available, The axf:footnote-position property has been extended, Arrangement of footnotes can now be specified by axf:footnote-align and axf:footnote-stacking, Footnotes duplicated in the same page can now be deleted, Base 14 fonts can now be embedded in PDF output, Spot color is now supported, JPEG2000 is now supported, and a raster image can now be down sampled. Lionbridge to Acquire Bowne Global Solutions

Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Bowne Global Solutions, a division of Bowne & Co., Inc.(NYSE: BNE), for at least $180 million (excluding cash received), in a combination of cash and common stock. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2005 and is expected to be accretive to Lionbridge earnings within the first full quarter of combined operations, excluding restructuring and related expenses. Both Lionbridge and Bowne Global Solutions (BGS) provide globalization services that enable organizations to release products and content that meet the linguistic, technical and cultural requirements of customers, partners and employees worldwide. BGS’ worldwide presence, language expertise and diversified customer base will complement Lionbridge’s language technology and offshore development and testing outsourcing services. Bowne will hold one director seat on the Lionbridge Board of Directors. The closing of the acquisition is subject to customary conditions and approvals. The approval of the stockholders of Lionbridge and Bowne will not be required to consummate the proposed acquisition.
