Informative Graphics Releases Beta Version of Brava! Enterprise ActiveX Content Visualization Server

Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC) announced the release of its Brava! Enterprise content visualization server with an ActiveX client. The beta version will be followed by a full production release in the fourth quarter of 2004. A full evaluation of the ActiveX beta is available by request until September 30, 2004. Brava Enterprise ActiveX allows users to view native office documents, PDF files, TIFF images, AutoCAD and other CAD software drawings, as well as apply markups and annotations without changing original files. Brava Enterprise also allows organizations to share content with outside organizations for view and markup securely, without distributing files or requiring additional software. Brava Enterprise ActiveX creates and views IGC’s new Content Sealed Format (CSF), which incorporates the Visual Rights security framework. Visual Rights gives authors selective and persistent security controls over their content. Markups can be “burned-in” to CSF files, and a new Block-out function (redaction) allows users to hide specific file content from view, text search, and print. CSF files are viewable by all Brava products, including a free reader that can be distributed along with CSF files. www.infograph.com

Interwoven Acquires Assets from Records Management Firm

Interwoven, Inc. announced the acquisition of the assets of Software Intelligence, Inc., a provider of records management (RM) systems. Software Intelligence’s RM product will be renamed Interwoven Records Manager, and will enable companies to manage paper documents, electronic documents and e-mail under a single unified records system. Interwoven purchased the assets of Software Intelligence for approximately $2 million in cash and stock. Interwoven Records Manager will initially be integrated with Interwoven WorkSite, the company’s document management and collaboration solution. Enterprises will be able to establish and implement a single, coordinated management and retention strategy for records across all types of media, including paper, e-mail, scanned images and electronic documents, at the client, project, folder or box level, in their original context. The solution gives end users ways to access and manage both electronic and paper files from a single interface in the context of their work. Retention policies can be assigned automatically based on client and project with no additional action or classification required. www.interwoven.com

ClearForest Releases Text Analytics 6.0 Platform

ClearForest Corp. announced availability of its Text Analytics 6.0 platform to enable organizations to analyze unstructured text and enterprise data simultaneously. New developments include system management software, an administrative dashboard, upgrades to development tools and integrated extraction-categorization capabilities. Release 6.0 may be deployed as a stand-alone analytic application supporting specific queries, visual analytics and reports, or fully integrated within an existing Business Intelligence system such as those offered by Cognos or Business Objects. Examples of unstructured text sources include web-based news articles or research as well as other electronic formats such as emails, PDF, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint. Snapbridge Introduces FDX Cross Media Server Family of Multi-Channel Publishing Solutions

Snapbridge Software unveiled FDX Cross Media Server, a multi-platform application family to improve workflow between writers, editors and production groups and reduce and complexity of archiving and repurposing newspaper and magazine content. FDX Cross Media Server integrates disparate data sources and different content formats to simplify and accelerate information assembly and delivery across multiple channels, including print, broadcast, web and wireless. FDX Cross Media Server employs Federated Data eXchange (FDX) technology, which leverages XML and Java. FDX Cross Media Server uses a browser-based interface and allows typical desktop applications to seamlessly link different types of content – text, images, PDF, and native support for XML formats including Adobe’s XMP, DocBook and NITF. FDX Search and Archive Engine, the first available product in the family, provides a central repository for creating and archiving editorial content. The browser-based system lets unlimited users from any publishing group easily access and work with content and images from otherwise incompatible systems, applications and formats used to publish various newspapers and magazines. Macromedia Web Publishing System, Contribute 3, & FlashPaper 2 Now Available

Macromedia announced the immediate availability of the Macromedia Web Publishing System, Macromedia Contribute 3, and Macromedia FlashPaper 2. The Web Publishing System (WPS) enables tens, hundreds, or thousands of content contributors to publish websites for internal and external communications using Macromedia Studio MX 2004, Contribute 3, FlashPaper 2, and Contribute Publishing Services. The Macromedia Web Publishing System, Contribute 3, and FlashPaper 2 are all available for immediate download in English from the Macromedia Online Store. Web Publishing System pricing is based on the number of business users who will use the system, with business packs that include one full developer seat with Studio MX 2004 for every ten business user seats. Pricing is $2,499 for the starter 10-pack, $12,495 for the 50-pack, $24,990 for the 100-pack, and single seats are available for $229. Current Contribute users can upgrade to a Web Publishing System seat for $109. Contribute 3 pricing is $79 for upgrades, $149 for new users, and $699 for a Contribute six-pack. Phoenix Systems Integration Releases Lotus Notes Connector for Documentum

Phoenix Systems Integration announced the release of Phoenix Notes Connector – a solution that brings together the enterprise-class messaging, calendaring and scheduling capabilities of IBM’s Lotus Notes with the global and enterprise-wide content management solutions of Documentum. Phoenix Notes Connector Features / Functionality include: the ability to archive from Lotus Notes folders; document types available for archive are configurable; archived messages retain header, footer, formatting and color information; and e-mail and attachments can be stored in the same, or separate, Docbase locations.
