Typefi Announces Typefi Publishing System version 2.7

Typefi Systems Inc. has announced version 2.7 of its product, the Typefi Publishing System. The latest version comes in two flavors: Typefi Print for centralized document creation and branding, and Typefi Publish for workgroup collaboration around long document and book production. The Typefi scriptless composition engine automates the publishing of a wide array of document types without the need for expensive template coding or manual page layout. Typefi Print allows companies to automate the creation of brand and regulatory compliant documents, and allows any employee to create personalized materials on-demand. The Typefi Publishing System automates all page layout and application of fonts, colors, inline images, illustrations, and other richly formatted elements including sidebars and floating elements. With Typefi Print, any user can leverage existing design assets to create professional marketing and product launch materials directly from their desktop. Typefi Publish automates the creation and production of complex documents and books. Revision cycles are reduced with a web-based interface that allows authors, designers and editors to collaborate on projects. All content and design elements are stored in an XML-based repository that allows for easy republishing and repurposing of content. Enterprise Portal Report & Tutorial

Our colleagues over at CMS Watch have published a new report on enterprise portals. As our earlier reports here and here on the portal market suggested, the list of vendors covered in the report shows the market is now dominated by infrastructure players. Open Text Expands Email Management Suite with New Compliance Capabilities

Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC) announced a major expansion of its suite of email management solutions, with new compliance features that will help customers meet email regulations in industries, such as financial services, as well as address internal requirements for email monitoring. The new capabilities include tools for capturing samples of inbound and outbound emails from massive volumes of daily messages, administering review processes and managing audits for regulators. Open Text is offering the new features as part of Livelink ECM Email Monitoring, one of two solution sets Open Text offers for managing email in Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. Customers can also use the solution for internal purposes to automate managers’ reviews of employee emails. For example, on a scheduled basis, the solution can capture outbound emails on sales quotes to help ensure adherence to internal policies or to measure performance. Among the new features are a variety of options for gathering samples of emails. Customers can schedule one-time or recurring reviews; specify the amount of content to gather; and define specific search criteria, including inclusive or exclusive keywords, users, dates, domains and record classifications. Comprehensive auditing capabilities help customers demonstrate successful audits to regulators through detailed audit logs. Avenue A | Razorfish Joins Google Enterprise Professional Program

Avenue A | Razorfish, an operating unit of aQuantive, Inc. (Nasdaq:AQNT), announced it has joined the Google Enterprise Professional program, which helps customers get more value out of their Google enterprise search deployments. The partnership is to enhance Avenue A | Razorfish’s Enterprise Solutions practice dedicated to the design and development of user-centric enterprise intranets, extranets and partner portal solutions. Avenue A | Razorfish has already begun implementing Google’s enterprise search products for clients in the U.S. and the U.K.

FAST & SirsiDynix Partner to Enhance Search and Research Solution for Libraries

Fast Search & Transfer (FAST) and SirsiDynix announced an OEM partnership to enhance the search capabilities of SirsiDynix Rooms. Rooms will be integrated with FAST InStream, an OEM-specific enterprise search solution. Rooms is a Web solution that enables library users to discover and gather information according to subject area and then present that content in virtual spaces or “rooms.” SirsiDynix will incorporate FAST’s enterprise search solution into SirsiDynix Rooms, providing a search and research capability to libraries, academia and consortia in library settings as well as community Web sites. http://www.sirsidynix.com, http://www.fastsearch.com

Optaros & Alfresco Partner

Optaros Inc., an open source software consulting and integration firm, announced an alliance agreement with Alfresco, an open source alternative for enterprise content management. The partnership will combine Optaros’ assembly methodology and expertise to plan, architect, integrate, and implement solutions with Alfresco’s open source technologies to solve enterprise document management challenges. Boeing Subsidiary Continental DataGraphics now EMC Documentum VAR

Continental DataGraphics (CDG), a subsidiary of The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], announced that it has formed a value added reseller relationship with EMC Corporation [NYSE: EMC]. Under the terms of this agreement, CDG will now be able to offer the EMC Documentum suite of products and services to its customers. The newly formed VAR alliance relationship with EMC will enable CDG to offer EMC technologies to complement CDG’s digital imaging and information management services. They can also be combined as needed with system integration services to facilitate access to data on legacy systems. CDG’s Professional Services Group offers a staff trained in EMC software implementation and support. Convera Adds Deep Web Exploitation Vendor BrightPlanet to Excalibur Partner Program

Convera Corporation (NASDAQ:CNVR) announced the newest addition to its Open Excalibur Partner program. BrightPlanet Corporation, is focused on deep Web research, monitoring and management. Coupled with the Web indexing capabilities of Excalibur, BrightPlanet’s Harvest Engine will provide access to the internet and internal content, allowing the harvest of Deep Web, Surface Web, and internal file systems, without restrictions due to language or file type. This capability will provide Excalibur users with a variety of targeted content relevant to their needs. The Open Excalibur search platform integration of third party products and services by adhering to REST and XML. In addition, Convera is working with partners on an open indexing API to allow third party technologies such as language processing, entity extractors, and geo-tagging to fit directly into the indexing pipeline.
