Press Release: Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Washington D.C. Doubles Number of Government and Association IT Professional Attendees

Successful Event Attributed to Strength of Content Delivered by Leading Industry Analysts, End-User Case Studies and Focused Technology Showcase

WASHINGTON, DC - The Gilbane Group, Lighthouse Seminars and CMS Watch today announced that last week’s Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Washington D.C. was a major success by delivering attendees and exhibitors alike a focused event that provided concrete lessons learned and best practices for industry and government IT professionals. In only its second year, the event doubled the number of Federal, State & Local and association attendees and attracted leading industry analysts and journalists.

The Conference, chaired by Tony Byrne, founder of CMS Watch (www.cmswatch.com), an authoritative, vendor-neutral source for comparative evaluations of content management and search technologies, featured many great forums for sharing and learning about the latest content technologies. Highlights of the event included the keynote panel comprised of industry analysts debating the future of content technologies, “Pump My Website!” - a session that pit three consulting firms against each other to re-imagine an association website and online strategy (winner voted by attendees) and “Stump the Consultant!” - a session that allowed attendees to challenge analysts with a content technology conundrum or content management project challenge.

“The Gilbane Conference series continues to provide us with direct interaction with companies and organizations looking to go beyond tire kicking but working to fulfill actual RFPs,” said Bill Rogers, CEO of Ektron. “In addition to speaking with potential customers, the events offer our team access to multiple industry analysts who share their insight with us on the latest market trends. The DC event was an excellent forum for us to showcase our latest web content management and authoring solutions to government and association attendees. We look forward to participating in future events.”

The conference planning committee led by Tony Byrne is now looking for speakers for the 2008 event. To submit a speaker, contact Tony at tbyrne@cmswatch.com, or send a proposal to speaking@gilbane.com.

“We recognize that the Federal government and Associations each have their own unique set of content challenges and requirements,” said Byrne. “With that in mind, we are building an event to provide these organizations with discussions around real-world best practices related to managing content. We look forward to coming back to Washington DC next year.”

Gilbane Boston, November 27-29, 2007
The next event in the Gilbane series is Gilbane Boston (http://gilbaneboston.com), taking place November 27-29, 2007 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts. The Boston Conference will focus on the broad range of content technologies available for enterprise applications, including widely deployed technologies like web content management, enterprise search, text analytics, and publishing. The event will also look at the use and applicability of newer “social software” technologies for corporate content applications, especially blogs, wikis, tagging, RSS, and .other collaboration and semantic technology tools.

In addition to the keynotes, conference sessions, and exhibit hall, Gilbane Boston has been home to CMS Idol, a fast-paced set of competitive vendor demos. Also taking place is the fifth annual CM Professionals Summit being hosted in conjunction with Gilbane Boston. The one-day CM Pros Fall Summit will kick-off with an industry keynote followed by roundtable discussions and workshops.

Press Release: Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Washington D.C. Keynotes: Analysts Debate Future of Content Technologies; CIOs Grapple with Content

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Gilbane Group, Lighthouse Seminars and CMS Watch today announced two keynote sessions that offer attendees direct access to independent industry analysts as well as C-level executives on how to best manage content throughout the enterprise. The event takes place at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington D.C. June 5-6, 2007 and is rapidly becoming the regions most sought after content management conference due to the strength of its speakers. It is the industry’s most comprehensive forum for bringing together government, association, and industry executives to share content management best practices.

To view the entire conference program, visit: http://gilbanedc.com/conference_grid.html.

On Tuesday, June 5th from 8:15am-9:30am the keynote session, “Analysts Debate the Future of Content Technologies” will take place. 2007 has proven to be an invigorating year for content technologies. Microsoft transformed SharePoint into an ECM platform. IBM and Yahoo! released free search as an alternative to the Google Appliance. Web CMS vendors are falling over themselves to introduce new, Ajax-based, Web 2.0-powered platforms. What does it all mean? What should managers be on the lookout for in 2008 and beyond? This session will be moderated by Tony Byrne, Founder of CMS Watch and will include Frank Gilbane, CEO of the Gilbane Group, Ann Rockley, President, The Rockley Group, Theresa Regli, Principal, CMS Watch, Erik Hartman, Consultant, Hartman Communicatie BV Benelux Steering Committee Member CM Professionals, and Priscilla Emery, President, e-Nterprise Advisors.

On Wednesday, June 6th from 8:30am-10:00am the keynote session, “CIOs Grapple with Content” will take place. In most enterprises, digital content doubles every three years. At the same time, customers and constituents want access to more of it, in the format they want, at the time they need it, organized carefully around their needs. Meanwhile, enterprises are accountable more than ever for the information they produce, publish, keep, and destroy. What's a CIO to do? This panel of CIOs will discuss how they have dealt with the explosion of demands in their enterprises. This session will be moderated by Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Principal at CMS Watch and will include Heidi W. Byerly, CAE, IOM - Chief Information Officer, Society for Human Resource Management and Alan Mlinarchik - Chief Information Officer, KCI Holdings.

“Rather than having one individual pontificate on a specific technology, we believe that our keynote panels offer a 360 degree view on how to address today’s challenging requirement for managing content,” said Tony Byrne, Conference Chair. “In putting together our keynotes as well as the regular conference sessions it is our intent to provide attendees with actionable, best practice information so they can deploy technologies suited for their specific environments.”

In addition to the Wednesday keynote session there will also be a closing town hall session “What are the Key Take-Aways?” that will be led by Rand Ruggieri, Program Manager, Office of the CIO, Commerce Department and Atle Skjekkeland, Vice President, AIIM.

Tony Byrne invites you to his tutorial

Posted on behalf of Tony:

The Gilbane conferences are known for closely examining the business case and potential project pitfalls in undertaking more automated content management. In short, the sessions can give you a good sense for the "why" and "what."

In my pre-conference tutorial, "Web Content Management Systems: Architectures and Products," I try to plumb the "how." How do the tools work, and specifically, what are some key architectural considerations you should understand before licensing any product? The session concludes with a critical look at various categories of Web CMS vendors in the marketplace today. Please join me in either San Francisco or Washington. Hope to see meet you then!

Press Release: Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Washington D.C. to Provide Venue for Sharing Best Practices between Government and Industry

June 5-6 Event Focused on Latest Techniques for Managing Enterprise Content; Call for Speakers due January 29th
Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Gilbane Group, Lighthouse Seminars and CMS Watch today announced that the second annual Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Washington D.C. will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington D.C. June 5-6, 2007. This is the industry’s most comprehensive forum for bringing together both government and industry executives to share content management best practices. Information is available at: http://gilbanedc.com/.

The Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies will focus on concrete lessons learned and best practices for industry and government specialists alike. The Conference is chaired by Tony Byrne, founder of CMS Watch, an authoritative, vendor-neutral source for comparative evaluations of content management and search technologies.

"Washington, DC is perhaps the most content-rich city on earth," said Byrne. “Among associations, non-profit organizations, publishing firms, consultancies, universities, and of course the federal government, we see enterprises generating much more digital content than they have systems today to adequately manage. This conference can help them get a much better handle on the problem.”

Content technologies for managing documents, websites, and records have grown in utility and sophistication. New technologies can enable searchers to find and retrieve information on a scale unheard of just five years ago. In the meantime, emerging standards in industry and government are supporting greater content exchange and systems interoperability. By attending The Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies, attendees will learn about:

* Enterprise Content Management technologies, business applications, and solutions
* How to get your Content Management project funded
* Best practices in content governance and web operations management
* Content technologies and 508 compliance
* New standards in content interoperability
* Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Content Management
* Latest Search and text-mining technologies: beyond the hype
* Comparative approaches for using XML to manage authoritative content
* How different enterprises have successfully implemented records management solutions
* What lessons can be drawn from hard experience
* Role of new media technologies - blogs, wikis, and RSS
* The future of web publishing
* How non-profits, associations, publishing, and other firms are managing growing volumes of content successfully.

“Gilbane Conferences draw attendees from a broad range of vertical industries and applications, which benefit from sharing strategies and proven practices, as they are all focused on managing information,” said Frank Gilbane, Gilbane Group CEO, “Expertise and information exchange between government and industry is especially fruitful to both, and facilitating this is a main focus of our Washington conference.”
