Information Mapping, Inc. (IMI), provider of Information Life Cycle Solutions to the Global 1000, announced it has released a Topic-Based Document Suite for Content Mapper, including XML document Schemas in support of DITA, Mapping Object Model (MOM) and other standard document structures. The DITA standard is being adopted by international companies including IBM, Intel, Nokia, Adobe, Autodesk and Texas Instruments. The Mapping Object Model standard (“MOM”) supports Information Mapping’s information architecture from Formatting Solutions(TM) which is used by more than 250,000 people around the globe. It supports 6 information types, hierarchical data structures, and the most common Information Mapping templates. Gilbane Boston Adds Live Interview on Massachusetts OpenDocument Format Controversy

Lighthouse Seminars and Bluebill Advisors announced that the Gilbane Boston Conference taking place this week has added a special live interview on Massachusetts OpenDocument format controversy. David Berlind, Executive Editor of ZDNet, will interview Morgan Reed, Vice President of the Association for Competitive Technology (ACT) live on the stage in the exhibit area of the Gilbane Conference at the Essex ballroom at Westin Copley in Boston. Thursday, December 1, 1:00 p.m. The State of Massachusetts is currently embroiled in a controversy about its decision to standardize on the OASIS OpenDocument Format (ODF). ODF competes with the Microsoft Office format, and the decision is strongly opposed by Microsoft. The Association for Competitive Technology (ACT), a lobbying organization focused on the “…interests of small and mid-size entrepreneurial technology companies…” also opposes the State’s decision. David will quiz Morgan why ACT is supporting Microsoft’s position. The Massachusetts decision is being watched very closely by other state and national governments as well as private industry, and if it stands, it will have dramatic effects on both the technology governments buy, and on the way they manage and store all their documents. This interview is a chance to hear what is really at stake, and why a lobbying organization for small technology companies would support Microsoft’s position. The interview is free for all expo visitors. The contact for Press/Media Sponsors is Evan Weisel, (703) 628-5754, evan@w2comm.com.

Research & Markets Forecasts Content Management Market Size

Research and Markets announced their content management market analysis indicates that the combined software license markets at $1.3 billion in 2004 are anticipated to reach $4.5 billion by 2011. Their view of the market: “The market for enterprise content solutions relates to management of unstructured information. The ability to control enterprise content is central to IT. 90% of information transmitted on the network is unstructured. Content management offers a range of capabilities. Digital asset management, lifecycle management collaboration, web content management, storage management, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and document process management are aspects of the content management markets. The trend is for enterprises to depend on content management software to achieve more efficient business process operation. Enterprise content management solutions are industry specific and may span several different product sets. Market growth of the content management market segment is tied to the transfer of the paper-based enterprise to an enterprise that manages all information electronically. Publishing information to the Web is a small part of the total content management markets. Content management relates to being able to move documents, media, and images around on the network in a manner that is easy. Content management is the management of unstructured information that complements the structured transaction content that has been the entire focus of enterprise computing systems.”
