Belus Technology Releases XStandard Version 1.7

Belus Technology released version 1.7 of XStandard, a WYSIWYG editor for Windows desktop and browser-based content management systems. The new version of XStandard accelerates the authoring process by incorporating content locking, content markers, subdocument support, a collapsible/expandable editing window, and support for keyboard shortcuts. For developers, new features include more programmatic APIs, support for almost all CSS 2.1 selectors, and for IE 7. Locking portions of content against editing, or exposing areas of content for editing, reduces the risk of publishing inaccurate or unauthorized information. Markers are used to flag elements of content with short, informative text messages. Used in combination with content locking, markers can guide authors to appropriate editing areas quickly and smoothly. A third and significant new feature in XStandard 1.7 is support for subdocuments. This permits authors to snap chunks of reusable content into documents as required. Classic examples of subdocuments include frequently used information such as author bios or company backgrounds that, for consistency, are edited and stored elsewhere in the content management system. XStandard’s support for subdocuments now safely places this type of content at the service of authors throughout the organization. By year-end, XStandard will transition to an entirely new interface that will be fully keyboard-accessible, and compliant with W3C’s Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG). Markup generated by XStandard already complies with W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Within CSS, the selector’s role is to pattern-match and determine which style is applied to elements in a document’s structure or “tree”. By supporting W3C’s latest Working Draft of CSS selectors (CSS level 2 revision 1), XStandard anticipates the spec’s eventual release as a Recommendation, anticipated for later this year. http://xstandard.com
