EMC & NEC Expand Strategic Alliance

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) and NEC Corporation (NASDAQ:NIPNY) announced an expansion of their strategic business and technology alliance. The broader and deeper arrangements involve new technology development, distribution, joint marketing, customer service and support, and increased collaboration and integration of the two companies’ information management and infrastructure solutions. EMC and NEC intend to collaborate on the development of content management solutions for emerging customer requirements. EMC and NEC intend to jointly develop and resell these solutions globally, with a focus on Japan, to help customers better address certain business issues such as regulatory compliance, security and collaboration. EMC and NEC have agreed to collaborate on the development, manufacturing, distribution and support of certain future storage technologies and entry-level products. EMC and NEC intend to license various technologies from their respective resource management products (EMC Smarts and NEC WebSAM) and will incorporate them into future releases from each company. The companies will further ensure tight integration of the WebSAM framework and the EMC Smarts model-based architecture. WebSideStory Launches HBX Analytics 3.5

WebSideStory, Inc. (NASDAQ:WSSI) announced the launch of HBX Analytics 3.5, which expands the dimensions of analysis beyond the tracking of traditional HTML content to include streaming media and mobile device user behavior. These capabilities enable marketers to analyze the activity of an entirely new set of visitor demographics. HBX 3.5, which is currently available to customers at no extra charge, includes: Streaming Media Tracking – Customers can quantify audience levels and interaction with streaming audio and video content served on their own web site or distributed to an external web site via Windows Media Player, QuickTime or RealPlayer; and Analysis of Mobile Device User Behavior – Marketers can now get rich information about visitors who access their HTML and WML web sites through mobile devices. This includes defining active segments for all mobile audiences to better understand their unique navigational behavior and content preferences. HBX 3.5 also provides detailed reporting on the mobile devices used by visitors, including brands, models and service providers.

Interwoven Announces Solution for Buy-Side Financial Institutions

Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ:IWOV) announced a solution for buy-side financial institutions to automate the incoming confirmations process for Over-the-Counter (OTC) derivatives, extending Interwoven’s solutions within the financial services industry. The new solution, Scrittura BuySide, enables buy-side firms to achieve increased regulatory compliance and reduce trade processing times by automating and validating the confirmation process for OTC derivative instruments such as interest rate, credit, equity, FX, and energy. A Workflow Manager enables the automation of most manual processes, such as routing of incoming confirmations for matching to internal trading records; checking for legal language, approval and signature; and dispatch back to counterparty. Using fax server technology, the solution employs methods such as side-by-side views of received confirms and internal trade records, optical character recognition, and a matching engine to help professionals match inbound counterparty agreements to outstanding trades. Document management capabilities enable all associated trade documents and versions to move together through the workflow process until the trade is confirmed. The solution also enables these documents to be stored where they can be indexed and easily searched. Users can also dispatch trade documents automatically to any recipient via fax or e-mail.
A document generation engine creates and dispatches replies to dealer counterparties pinpointing incomplete or erroneous legal language and trade data. Content Management and the Customer Experience Focus of CM Professionals Spring 2006 Conference

ABREVITY Announces FileData Classifier Information Value Management Solution

ABREVITY, Inc. announced availability of its FileData Classifier Information Value Management (IVM) solution. At $1497 for the first three terabytes and $995 per terabyte thereafter, FileData Classifier is a solution in the Information Classification and Management (ICM) space suitable for Small to Medium Businesses (SMB) or Small to Medium Enterprises (SME). Leveraging ABREVITY’s SLICEbase metadata database engine, FileData Classifier is not built on or require the use of a relational database. This provides for a rich feature set that includes user-selectable metadata parsing, Boolean file query (search) and ABREVITY’s exclusive Drag2Tag file tagging for data classification. The later feature allows users to query based on granular file attributes, such as specific file or directory words combined with file types, dates, creators, etc., and then simply drag selected files into one or more category “tags” such as Critical, Compliant, Legal, Tier One, etc. New categories and tags can be created.
