Oracle Announces Collaboration Suite Release 2

Oracle Corp. introduced Oracle Collaboration Suite Release 2 along with two new services. Oracle Collaboration Suite Release 2 introduces real-time communication features, online meetings, instant messaging and co-browsing. Oracle also now offers a low-cost migration service and hosted collaboration services – Oracle Collaboration Suite Outsourcing. Oracle Collaboration Suite enables users to access voicemail, email and fax in one inbox, and also leverage UltraSearch, which allows users to search for corporate information within all shared files, including faxes and email. With the addition of the new Oracle iMeeting technology, online collaboration activities such as co-browsing, Web conferences, voice streaming, meeting playback and even casual communications such as instant messaging, can be consolidated and centralized. The iMeeting functionality in Oracle Collaboration Suite acts as a foundation for integrating enterprise content, commerce and comprehensive business flows. Oracle Collaboration Suite Release 2 is scheduled to be available in the first half of 2003. Macromedia Announces ‘Contribute’

Macromedia, Inc. announced Macromedia ‘Contribute’, a desktop application that enables anyone to update, add, and publish web content to existing websites without requiring technical skills beyond basic word processing. Contribute works with any HTML website, including those coded by hand or created with Macromedia Dreamweaver’ MX or Microsoft FrontPage. Macromedia Contribute allows web developers to delegate web content maintenance while protecting the site design, code, and functionality. Contribute rolls out in minutes using encrypted connection keys and permission groups. Contribute allows users to update web content in three steps: Users browse to the web page they want to update, edit the page, and publish their updated page to the live site. Contribute also features integration with Microsoft Word and Excel. Contribute will be available for Windows in December with introductory pricing at $99. Education, government, and corporate volume licensing will be available. The product will initially ship in English, with French, German, and Japanese versions expected to be available in 2003. Ektron Announces Version 3.0 of Ektron eWebEditPro & Ektron eWebEditPro+XML

Ektron, Inc. has released version 3.0 of both Ektron eWebEditPro and Ektron eWebEditPro+XML. With the release of version 3.0, Ektron eWebEditPro offers: improved support for style sheets (CSS) and style classes; improved content filtering; enhanced spell check capabilities; a new ASP.NET server control; and a new eWebEditPro toolbar button allowing users to edit within Microsoft Word 2000 or greater. Ektron eWebEditPro+XML version 3.0 includes: Schema and DTD validation; XML tag attributes can be edited in WYSIWYG mode; XML config file can be loaded on the fly; Full XML document support; and Multiple schema support as well as use of namespaces. www.ektron.com

Open Text to Introduce Content Integration for eRoom

Open Text Corporation announced it will extend the capabilities of its content integration platform, Livelink Doorways, to eRoom repositories and applications. The solution will give eRoom customers the ability to utilize eRoom and Livelink together, and allow users to access content and features in eRoom from Livelink. By supporting eRoom with Livelink Doorways, Livelink acts as a central point for enterprise content management and collaboration, while providing access to the data and elements residing in eRoom. Along with the new Doorways solution for eRoom, Open Text will also provide a set of conversion tools through its professional services organization to allow eRoom users to upgrade to Livelink and its collaborative capabilities. Livelink Doorways offers access to Documentum 4i and a variety of file systems, including Microsoft Windows, UNIX NFS and Oracle iFS. Open Text also plans to add connectors for Hummingbird DM and DOCS Open, Lotus Notes and Domino, and other repositories, as well as provide a means for partners and customers to develop connectors to their own unique repositories. www.opentext.com/livelink

Atomz Adds Flash Content Management

Atomz announced that it has added the Flash Content Management Solution (Flash CMS) to Atomz Publish, the companys Web content management application. Jointly developed with Fluid, Flash CMS allows non-technical individuals to edit and publish Macromedia Flash content in real-time within Atomz Publish in the same way they currently manage HTML, text, images or PDFs. Atomz Publish with Flash CMS is easily and rapidly deployed, and is browser-based so content can be created, changed or updated anywhere, anytime. Flash CMS is now available to all new and existing Atomz Publish and Atomz Promote customers. There is no additional charge for Flash CMS within Atomz Publish, and it supports both Flash 5 and Flash MX. Xenos Releases d2e Platform 5.2

Xenos announced the release of version 5.2 of its Xenos d2e Platform software. Major enhancements to the Xenos d2e Platform contained in release 5.2 include additional support for advanced Adobe PDF features for document fidelity, high-quality complex graphical output, enhanced security features and faster viewing across the Web. Other major advances include capability for scalable, dynamic web-based document presentation in PDF and HTML with multi-threaded processes using Xenos’ Java API, a new ActiveX component providing easier integration into Windows applications and web services, extended functionality for complex print to print applications, and enhanced character support for the European and Asian markets. www.xenos.com

SiteScape Announces Enterprise Forum 7.0

SiteScape Inc. announced the availability of SiteScape Enterprise Forum Version 7.0. SiteScape Enterprise Forum 7.0 provides numerous new features and enhancements, which fall into three categories: increased integration, enhanced usability, and enterprise scalability. With this announcement, SiteScape Forum 7.0 now runs on a choice of SQL complaint databases, including Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Oracle 8I and FrontBase. SiteScape 7.0 adds collaborative tasks, reminders and bookmarks. NXN Announces Alienbrain 6.0

NXN Software announced the availability of NXN alienbrain 6.0 Source Control Pack for programmers. The package configuration is optimized for software development teams and provides functionality for version control and configuration management (SCM). The NXN alienbrain 6.0 Source Control Pack features intelligent SCM-functionality such as branching, branch merging, sharing, pinning, structural history, atomic get, command line tools and change reporting. The clients include a bundled license for Araxis Merge Professional and offer integration with both Microsoft VisualStudio .NET and Metrowerks CodeWarrior. A standard Source Control Pack contains five NXN alienbrain 6.0 Developer Clients and one Code Server. NXN alienbrain 6.0 adds configuration management features to its asset management core.
