Vignette & Telecom Italia Form Strategic Alliance

Vignette Corp. and Telecom Italia announced a strategic partnership. Combining the Vignette Content Suite V6 and Telecom Italia hosting services, the companies intend to serve the online business needs of the top 2,000 Italian companies. Telecom Italia, through its dedicated cybercenters, will bring to market an offering including broadband access, IP services, Web and application hosting — a complete e-business enabling platform, on which selected system integrators can develop customized solutions. This strategic alliance is focused on the IP outsourcing model, which combines the benefit of the pure ASP model — software as a service, no internally managed infrastructure, better time to market — with the business requirements of corporate customers — service level agreements, business continuity and a dedicated software and hardware infrastructure. Through the partnership with TI’s e-business solution, Vignette Content Suite’s V6 content management applications are being delivered on a hosting basis. www.vignette.com

Interwoven Announces MetaTagger 3.0

Interwoven, Inc. announced the release of MetaTagger 3.0. With MetaTagger 3.0, Interwoven delivers a complete solution to automatically capture, classify and control metadata enterprise-wide. MetaTagger 3.0 includes automated taxonomy discovery including a visual vocabulary builder, automated tagging and seamless integration with Interwoven’s Content Infrastructure products including TeamSite, TeamSite Templating and OpenDeploy software. MetaTagger examines collections of legacy content and automatically discovers a custom taxonomy, and provides a visual environment to easily search, edit and tune these custom-generated taxonomies. This provides customers with the ability to easily edit existing vocabularies or build new ones from scratch. MetaTagger’s ability to automatically tag content based on recognition, classification and pre-defined business rules, enables businesses to quickly capture and classify complete metadata for all content. Inktomi & Interwoven to Deliver Integrated Publishing & Searching

Inktomi Corp. and Interwoven, Inc. announced an agreement to deliver a combined solution that will offer an enhanced search experience by providing access to the most current and accurate corporate content. The Inktomi-Interwoven alliance will enable Inktomi Enterprise Search to immediately index documents managed by Interwoven TeamSite and MetaTagger. The alliance will more closely link the content creation and discovery process by enabling Inktomi Enterprise Search to automatically index documents managed by Interwoven’s content management software. The search engine will instantly crawl new documents as soon as they are published, allowing enterprises to maintain a more current index and ensure that users have immediate access to new corporate information. SoftQuad Announces XMetaL 3

SoftQuad Software, Ltd. announced XMetaL 3, a major upgrade to its XML content creation software. The new version features ease-of-use and collaboration
capabilities for content authors and provides developers with an XML editor with a rich development environment that supports the W3C XML Schema. New features include: Revision Marking; Preview in HTML and PDF; Enhanced integration with Microsoft Office; and support for WebDAV. XMetaL 3’s new developer features include: XMetaL Forms Toolkit; Java API; and support for both W3C Schema and DTDs. XMetaL 3 will be available in January 2002. New users can purchase XMetaL 3 for $495 (U.S.) per single user license; an upgrade is $195 (U.S.). XMetaL is sold directly and through authorized resellers. Virage Delivers Video Publishing Product

Virage, Inc. announced VS Publishing, a product for publishing web-based rich media. VS Publishing is built upon the company’s video application platform. The new publishing solution offers a streamlined workflow with simple editorial control and greater web site programming capabilities. VS Publishing is available from Virage as either in-house software or as a hosted service.
VS Publishing provides content owners with production and programming tools to create and deliver dynamic rich media programming to one or more web sites. The Virage solution give producers, editors or webmasters a web-based interface for selecting, building and posting content highlights from an archive or recently broadcast event onto any part of a web site in a matter of minutes. Virage also announced the release of VS Webcasting, a product that allows corporations to self-produce live and on-demand webcasting events such as executive communications, human resource broadcasts and market announcements.

Innodata Announces Acquisition of ISOGEN

Innodata announced that it has acquired ISOGEN International from DataChannel, Inc. for approximately $1.3 million. The purchase price consists of an initial cash payment of approximately $650,000 and two promissory notes, each for $325,000, payable on April 30, 2002 and September 30, 2002, with interest. ISOGEN is based in Dallas, Texas, and has offices in Austin, Minneapolis and Bellevue, Washington. ISOGEN International specializes in sophisticated consulting and training in the knowledge-processing technologies of XML, SGML and other standards. ISOGEN International’s 44 employees will operate as a new division of Innodata under George Kondrach, who co-founded ISOGEN International in 1991 and who will serve as the new division’s President.

Atomz Unveils New Features for Atomz Publish

Atomz announced that Atomz Publish has been enhanced with several new features, including infinite versioning and visual version comparison, spell checking, increased integration with Atomz Search, scheduled updates and content inclusion. With Atomz’s new infinite versioning capability, documents and templates within Atomz Publish can be stored and versioned indefinitely, and Web-content administrators can go back to any historical version of a file using the Revive, Revert, and Compare utilities. Atomz Search customers who use the Incremental Indexing feature can now link this feature directly into Atomz Publish. When Atomz Publish users make a change to any page, they can now schedule the page to go live on the Web site at a particular time. Publish previously offered the ability to approve the document for a particular time and date, but the actual deployment of that page depended on a site-wide publish to occur. www.atomz.com
