Convera’s RetrievalWare Offered by IBM

Convera announced that IBM is offering Convera’s RetrievalWare as the search and retrieval technology for its Network Interactive Content Access (NICA) publishing industry solution. NICA is an end-to-end digital asset management pre-press solution that provides newspaper and magazine publishers the ability to manage, archive, retrieve and reuse publishing data such as text, images, graphics and PDFs while offering integration with their production workflows, editorial creation front-end systems and industry specific business practices. NICA also provides the workflow management that allows the repurposing of publishing content either from its own repository or from an external enterprise content management repository. Convera also announced that it is creating an extension to the IBM WebSphere Portal that will enable IBM customers to integrate RetrievalWare into their portal deployments.
This implementation gives IBM portal customers the capability to retrieve all data types (text, video, images, audio) through the IBM portal interface. www.convera.com

Liquent & Ipedo Form Partnership

Liquent Inc. announced a marketing alliance with Ipedo, Inc. The combined solution resulting from this partnership will leverage Liquent’s XtentT technology and Ipedo’s XML Database to provide infrastructure that can be used to transform, manage and deliver XML content to content management, portal, Web, wireless and other enterprise applications. Companies utilizing this solution will be able to automatically retrieve both structured and unstructured content from their existing data and content repositories, and use Liquent’s Xtent engine to transform the content into XML that is managed by the Ipedo XML Database. This XML can then be used to meet ongoing requirements to transform, search and assemble critical information for employees, customers, partners and electronic systems. www.ipedo.com

Interwoven & Venetica Partner

Interwoven Inc. and Venetica announced that they have signed an agreement allowing Interwoven to sell Venetica’s VeniceBridge product and the new Content Provider for TeamSite. Using Content Provider for TeamSite, users can search from within the TeamSite software environment to discover assets, regardless of how or where the content is stored – such as in repositories from Documentum, FileNET, Lotus, Microsoft, Open Text and others – and leverage the appropriate content to support their ongoing initiatives. For example, a manager preparing for a product launch will now be able to access existing documents such as technical publications and regulatory submissions housed in various repositories. OASIS Forms Committee to Develop Web Services Standard for Remote Portals

OASIS announced its members have formed the OASIS Web Services for Remote Portals (WSRP) Technical Committee to create an XML and Web services standard that will allow the plug-n-play of visual, user-facing Web services with portals or other intermediary Web applications. These WSRP services will enable businesses to provide content or applications in a form that does not require any manual or application-specific adaptation by consuming portals and applications. WSRP will allow remote portlet Web services to be implemented in a variety of ways, including Java/J2EE and Microsoft’s .NET platform. WSRP services will be built on standard technologies including SOAP, UDDI, and WSDL. Members include: Bowstreet, Divine, Documentum, Epicentric, Factiva, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, Interwoven, IONA, Oracle Corp., Plumtree Software, Reed Elsevier, Reuters, SilverStream Software. SAP AG announced its intention to combine SAP Markets, Inc., and SAP Portals, Inc., into one subsidiary. The combined company’s solutions will be delivered by SAP as part of mySAP Technology and other mySAP.com solutions, and also licensed to other technology companies for distribution with third-party software offerings. The combined company will maintain the charter of providing an open integration technology that unifies people, content and business processes in heterogeneous environments and across business boundaries. Corechange Integrates Microsoft Content Management Server

Corechange, Inc. announced that it has integrated Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 into Coreport, Corechange’s enterprise portal framework. The integration of Coreport and Microsoft Content Management Server enables organizations to unify information assets – including data, messages, applications, and user-created business content – within a single framework designed to tailor information access to specific user needs. The integration of Microsoft Content Management Server with the Coreport portal framework is accomplished through Corechange’s development of Coreport Connectors that provide direct, native access to Content Management Server.
