In this talk, Joe Bachana presents how open source technologies such as Drupal (CMS), Entermedia (DAM), OpenKM (records management), and CiviCRM (CRM) are being implemented with an Intacct Accounting System for the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). The resulting system manages the entire customer relationship, from inception through to management of donations and membership activities.

Adobe Acquires EchoSign

Adobe Systems Incorporated announced that it has acquired EchoSign, a leading Web-based provider of electronic signatures and signature automation. EchoSign’s electronic signature solution will be a key component of Adobe’s document exchange services platform. The EchoSign solution will be integrated with other Adobe document services including SendNow for managed file transfer, FormsCentral for form creation and CreatePDF for online PDF creation. The EchoSign electronic signature solution automates the entire signature process from the request for signature to the distribution and execution of the form or agreement. The EchoSign service includes a rich set of APIs for incorporation with company-specific solutions to improve the process of sending, tracking and signing digital documents. EchoSign is based in Palo Alto, Calif. with a sales presence in the U.K. and Germany. North Plains Releases New Version of TeleScope Digital Asset Management System

North Plains, LLC announced version 9 of their Digital Asset Management (DAM) system TeleScope, a release focused on helping companies build and manage the digital asset platforms. TeleScope 9 securely connects everyone who needs to work on, distribute, or use digital content no matter where they are. The major enhancements to TeleScope 9 to achieve this include: An HTML5 user interface designed to be easily usable by anyone, at any point in the digital asset lifecycle. Drag and drop of files accessed in TeleScope via a browser directly into desktop applications, simplifying and speeding critical manual editorial or distribution tasks; TeleScope Orchestration, a user-friendly visual workflow engine; Multilingual enhancements to fully support left-to-right and right-to-left language presentations, as well as the ability to see asset metadata in two or more languages side-by-side for international distributed teams. Mr. Copy Launches DocuShare on Demand

Mr. Copy, a Xerox company serving California, announced its latest offering, DocuShare on Demand. DocuShare on Demand is aimed at helping small-to-midsize businesses manage the vast amount of paper and digital content created on a daily basis. This hosted Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution enables document management, collaboration, review and approval as well as web publishing to support information sharing across a company by employees. When coupled with Xerox scan-enabled multifunction devices from Mr. Copy, DocuShare on Demand provides a complete document management solution from one vendor. DocuShare on Demand can save users up to 90 percent of operational and storage costs relating to document management. In addition, the new service should improve operational efficiencies by cutting the time it takes to find vital information. Compliance Ready and Easy to Deploy DocuShare on Demand takes the hassle of compliance away from the day-to-day operations of a company. Compliance for HIPAA, FERPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and 37 other state privacy laws are included in the package. EMC and Fatwire Announce Joint Offerings

EMC Corporation and FatWire Software announced that they will jointly offer solutions for Web experience and brand management to help manage online experiences and brand consistency. The strategic partnership between EMC and FatWire includes reciprocal reseller agreements, joint innovation, sales, marketing and services activities as well as a minority equity investment by EMC in FatWire. Under the reseller agreements, EMC will resell FatWire’s WEM product set as its WEM solution and FatWire will resell EMC’s digital asset management software including EMC Documentum Media WorkSpace and EMC Documentum Content Transformation Services as its digital asset management offering. EZContentManager Gets New Features

ACOM Solutions, Inc. has added features to its EZContentManager document management system focused on increasing flexibility, control and operating convenience. EZContentManager is a web-based document management system that allows companies to centralize corporate files of any type in a single password-secured data repository, with browser-driven retrieval and distribution engines providing enterprise search as well as handling under metadata or full-text search. New administrative support features in EZContentManager 3.9 include: a new layer of security based on document type and metadata (indexed field) values, increasing the amount of security that can be added to a group or user profile as well as what can be accessed through EZContentManager; the ability to edit group membership at the user level, aiding administrators in maintaining groups and their associated permissions; the ability to “globalize” – make available to all document types – metadata fields that are selection lists; and the addition of a faxed-document report to Administrative Tools. Enhancements for user efficiency include: The ability to retrieve an indexed field from a database while manually uploading a document; The addition of “move” to the existing cut/copy/paste editing features; The ability to roll back from a versioned document to the original version, allowing users to view the modification process; as well as the ability to email linked/associated documents in a single outbound message. http://www.acom.com/

Canto Cumulus 8.1 to Ship in December

Canto announced the release of Canto Cumulus 8.1, built upon the Cumulus 8 system architecture first introduced last May. Among the new capabilities are a standalone version of the Cumulus Client, which is designed to enable users to create and work on local catalogs, connect to Cumulus Server catalogs, and update assets and metadata between the two. This was designed for traveling professionals to work with catalogs even when Internet access isn’t available. New report types include assets cataloged during a period, check-out “time spent” reports, asset inventories by format, and the ability to use search queries as the means for selecting report assets. Reports can now be saved to PDF format and automatically emailed. A new image comparison mode makes even subtle differences between images clear. Asset cataloging starts up faster, and a bulk editor offers users an “apply to all” option when adding metadata to cataloged assets. Users can create asset “placeholders” for assets in production, with the purpose of adding metadata and track production before an asset is ready to catalog. Sorting improvements can display the pages of PDFs, layouts, presentations etc. by page number, regardless of the primary sort field. A secondary sort order is now available, and algorithm changes speed sorting operations and ensure all field types sort as expected. Catalog back-up reports and system log (syslog) messages generated by Cumulus can each be emailed automatically. Added support for Microsoft’s Failover Cluster technology offers protection for Cumulus Servers running on Windows Server 2008. The Cumulus Web Client (formerly Internet Client Pro) has been updated for Cumulus 8.1. A retooling of Canto’s Web publishing technology is scheduled for release early next year.
