Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) announced the release of a new version of its InPorter file-import utility for the vjoon K4 Cross-Media Publishing Platform. InPorter 3 now supports version 6 of vjoon K4, the database solution integrating Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy. A new version of the XTRF system - XTRF 2.2 has been introduced to the market. This version is in accordance with the system development direction initiated in versions 2.0 and 2.1. Similarly to the previous versions, the XTRF team focused on solutions that respond to the increasing users' needs, new market trends, and changes in the companies' environment. Among the new functions of the version 2.2, the following can be distinguished: Online cooperation with translators (No-Login Provider) - A module enabling the registration of new subcontractors from the official site of a translation company. In the module, a special form for registering subcontractors in the company's database is available without the necessity to log in. The form may include the following data: Identification data; Contact data; Field of specialization and language pairs; Suggested rates; Software possessed by a subcontractor; and Additional information. After the registration, the translator's data are saved in the company's database, and the system automatically notifies the HR Manager about a newly registered subcontractor. The registration is protected by the CAPTCHA module. Online cooperation with clients (Creating Requests for Proposals) - A new module "No Login Quote" makes it possible to create and submit quotes directly from the company's official site. Reminding of unpaid invoices - XTRF informs authorised persons about the invoices that have not been paid on time. Flexible mechanism of delivering information from the system to the user's e-mail address - Users can program the XTRF system so that it sends data concerning projects, quotes, clients, and translators in a selected layout. Such a set of information may be sent by e-mail to any user without the necessity of logging into the system. The frequency of delivering information may be configured by users. Managing several company branches - thanks to implementing the branch category, XTRF enables you to manage your translator, client, and employee database divided into regional offices. Moreover, in connection with the module for creating financial reports, it is possible to conduct separate analyses for each company branch. In version 2.2, two new language versions have been added: Kazakh and Slovak. http://www.xtrf.eu
Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), an Adobe premier development partner and a provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, announced the availability of version 6.3 of the vjoon K4 Cross-Media Publishing Platform. K4 version 6.3 optimizes connectivity with the Digital Publishing Suite, Adobe’s new toolset for designing and deploying engaging reading experiences across mobile devices and marketplaces. K4 now comes standard with built-in features that make publishing to the iPad and other emerging platforms as one would for print: new metadata fields for handling tablet-specific content, powerful automation functionality for electronic issue creation, and more. K4 can substitute automated processes for routine manual tasks, such as converting individual pages into various formats. In addition, K4 can automatically adapt styles and units of measure, such as converting picas to pixels. Version 6.3 also incorporates the new K4 Distributed Enterprise System (K4 DES), for publishers with distributed editorial and production environments to collaborate with the K4 system across remote locations. K4 DES allows remote users to work on content from their own K4 Local Data Storage (K4 LDS) setup rather than the primary K4 Server and access files at local network speeds. Layouts and articles, including all placed objects, open quicker for time savings. Back in the main office, the central K4 Server automatically updates and synchronizes all files across all K4 LDS sites so that any user in any location is always accessing the most current version. The K4 Cross-Media Publishing Platform version 6.3 is available now from MEI. All K4 customers on active maintenance agreements are eligible to receive free upgrades. www.maned.com
