Scriptura Integrates with Google Docs

Belgian company Inventive Designers, announced it has geared its proprietary Scriptura document solution to Google Docs. This enables newly created documents to be instantaneously presented to any others involved who are meant to review or amend the document or to act upon it. Documents created in Scriptura v6, such as contracts, purchase orders, confirmations and reports can now be automatically generated from data from the back-end systems (such as a CRM or ERP system or other data sources) and be used as a Google Document without manual intervention. BP Logix Announces Workflow Director 2.0

BP Logix announced the release of BP Logix Workflow Director. Comprised of a workflow engine, project management, a business rules engine, electronic forms processing, reporting/activity monitoring and with the ability to integrate into most third-party and in-house applications and databases. BP Logix Workflow Director is built on an integrated document management and workflow automation platform that enables business users to manage, automate and report on their organization's business processes without requiring more than cursory support of either IT or Development resources. It provides storage, categorization and search technologies for all documents, eForms and workflow processes. ABBYY announced a strategic partnership with Workshare. Workshare will integrate ABBYY's optical character recognition (OCR) technologies into its line of document control and content security offerings in order to deliver PDF solutions for the document-centric business processes. Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV) announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L) for approximately $775 million. Interwoven's products improve human interactions with information, and Autonomy's technology will allow people to know what those human interactions mean. Their target customer base includes global 2000 corporations, law firms, and government regulators. Under the terms of the agreement, Interwoven will be acquired by Autonomy for $16.20 per share, in cash, or approximately $775 million in the aggregate. The directors and certain executive officers of Autonomy and Interwoven have agreed to vote the shares they own in favor of the acquisition. The transaction is expected to close by Q2 2009 and is subject to shareholder approval by both companies, Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust clearance, and other closing conditions. http://www.interwoven.com

Rebus Launches Recollect Desktop

Rebus Launched Recollect Desktop, a search product to understand and retrieve content inside scanned documents, PDFs, and emails. Recollect Desktop combines desktop search, e-discovery, document storage and content management in one product. Recollect Desktop enables users to search the contents of a hard drive not just by document title, but will also search the words inside, even if they are misspelled or run-together. IBM Announces Lotus Forms 3.5

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced new IBM Forms software that speeds up business processes by removing bottlenecks caused by paper and by allowing employees without technical skills in any department to create electronic forms or surveys. The new version of IBM Lotus Forms, 3.5, makes it simpler for nontechnical employees to quickly create, store and route e-forms inside and outside of an organization via e-mail and the Web. New features allow employees to automate and compose their own forms, without needing software to be installed on individual PCs or requiring help from IT departments. IBM Lotus Forms 3.5 software, capable of handling challenging projects such as insurance and tax forms, comes with new "Turbo" software. Turbo, also available as a stand-alone product, handles simple tasks such as employee on-boarding, leave and vacation requests, customer satisfaction surveys, job applications, product orders, and opinion surveys. Turbo works with IBM WebSphere Portal software. IBM Forms support e-forms built on XForms, for compatibility with existing customer systems, providing an advantage over competitive offerings. Open Text Corporation announced that SAP will resell Open Text Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) under the name the SAP Invoice Management application by Open Text. As part of this agreement, SAP will also resell Open Text's document capture solution Invoice Capture Center, from Open Text's recent acquisition of Captaris, under the name optical character recognition (OCR) option for SAP Invoice Management. SAP Invoice Management completes the portfolio of finance solutions for SAP's enterprise resource planning (ERP) application. The OCR option for SAP Invoice Management is scheduled to be available in early 2009. The document-capture capabilities allow organizations to convert paper invoices into electronic form so they can be processed electronically. Adlib Software Unveils Express Server 4.5

Adlib Software announced the availability of Adlib Express Server 4.5, a new version of its server-based suite of applications that integrate with enterprise application software or as part of any document workflow solution. Adlib Express Server 4.5 now allows users to convert XML files to PDF or other formats. With Adlib Server 4.5, users can now arrange and format a variety of XML documents with text, tables, graphics and images while converting to PDF. Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX) (NASDAQ:TSX:) (NASDAQ:OTC) announced initial product plans following the acquisition of Captaris, including the role Captaris will play in extending Open Text ECM solutions that manage documents from SAP and Oracle ERP systems. Open Text announced the completion of the acquisition of Captaris on Friday. Captaris's document capture solutions provide an "on ramp" for ECM by converting paper documents arriving by mail or fax to electronic form, so they can be managed online. Captaris offers capture technology that uses imaging, scanning and recognition technologies, plus classification and routing software that complements Open Text's solutions. Captaris's software will be integrated with Open Text's ECM solutions that manage ERP-related content from SAP and Oracle systems. With Captaris, Open Text's ECM solutions for ERP will also gain better and smoother integration with desktop applications from Microsoft. Captaris offers document processing capabilities for Microsoft, including a new product that automatically exposes the contents of scanned documents in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server to search engines.
