Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX) (TSX:OTC) announced the release of Version 2.0 of its Open Text Employee Information Management (EIM) solution. Highlights of the new version include improved user navigation, tighter integration with the SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) solution, as well as a new feature that allows guest users to temporarily access content in personnel folders, subject to security policies. Open Text EIM 2.0 brings new ECM capabilities to automate document-intensive HR processes, so that HR departments can redirect their focus from administrative tasks to strategic tasks. The solution manages the entire lifecycle of employee information and helps meet legal data protection guidelines and provisions concerning document storage and deletion. With Open Text EIM 2.0, users can access SAP ERP HCM data directly from the Open Text solution and execute SAP transactions without having to switch between applications. In reverse, relevant employee folders in EIM can be directly called up from SAP ERP HCM. All documents in a personnel folder are made available via a folder structure with categories and sub-categories. Using thumbnail images of documents, users can quickly find desired documents. DocsCorp announced its partnership with LexisNexis Visualfiles in the UK to jointly develop a Document Bundling solution for the legal profession. This collaboration will deliver a solution that will allow legal professionals and administrators to automate their court bundle production process, to benefit from time and cost savings, and enhance the quality of their court bundles. This solution will be integrated with Visualfiles. In addition, the solution will incorporate advanced PDF creation functionality that will allow users to create PDFs from any application, combine multiple documents into a single PDF, markup PDFs with drawings and annotations and redact sensitive information, to name just a few features. RSD announced the availability of two new product releases: RSD Folders 5.1 for Windows, Linux and UNIX, and RSD Doc2Print 2.1. RSD Folders 5.1 for Windows, Linux and UNIX includes several key enhancements. The new release includes new security and activity tracking capabilities, expanded document capture options and scalability improvements. Security enhancements include support for secure LDAP, LDAPS. RSD Folders 5.1 has new activity tracking features which allow authorized users to review all user activity in the RSD Folders repository. Document capture enhancements enable management of a broader variety of AFP data stream types. DocuLex announced the release of Archive Studio WebSearch 4.1. New features to the content management software include SharePortal, which allows the knowledge user to securely share content and collaborate with third party individuals or organizations without user logins. Automated Expirations were added to provide a self management effort of eliminating temporary access to invitations, files and folders made available by SharePortal permission and granted by WebSearch users. Workflow enabling Auto Notification is now available for assignment to files and folders. Users or communities may be automatically notified if files or folders are added, deleted, checked-out, edited, etc. Workflow inbox and folder routing is also enabled, allowing users to customize folder content to meet their business process requirements for routing documents and notifying users to perform their assigned activity. The Records Retention addition to WebSearch provides an automated process of classifying a record to a particular records series. The automated Records Retention processes include management reports, shredding, off-line archiving and legal hold capabilities. WebSearch browser-based file indexing accommodates the business process of adding documents via MFP, FAX or electronically generated files. Workshare announced WorkshareOpen, a platform that allows independent software vendors (ISVs), system integrators, value-added resellers (VARs) and enterprise IT departments to integrate Workshare's comparison technology with other business solutions. A2iA, a provider of tools for document analysis and handwritten data extraction, announced that they have signed a global partner agreement with ReadSoft, a provider of software solutions for Document Automation. A2iA's technology enables ReadSoft to incorporate all cursive handwritten documents such as letters, complaints, and other correspondence, into the workflow containing other printed and electronic documents. YouSendIt, Inc. announced it has expanded its direct file delivery platform with a plug-in for Adobe's Acrobat, allowing business professionals to send files up to 2GB directly from the application. The YouSendIt plug-in for Acrobat allows users to send directly from the application, avoiding the need for FTP transfers or burning large files to a CD to ship overnight. Files delivered through YouSendIt are not subject to e-mail size limitations or firewall obstructions, and can also be tracked with YouSendIt's delivery options so the sender knows when files have been received. Additionally, the YouSendIt plug-in for Acrobat includes the protection of resumable upload. Should an Internet connection be momentarily lost during file upload, activity will resume automatically once the connection has been restored. It also allows users to configure the amount of time a file is available for download or the number of times it is downloaded. The Acrobat plug-in can be used with Acrobat Standard and Professional versions 8 and 9 for Microsoft Windows and with Acrobat Professional versions 8 and 9 for Mac.
