The TYPO3 Community released the newest version of their Open Source project TYPO3. TYPO3 has been downloaded over 4.6 million times. The latest TYPO3 version 4.4 makes TYPO3 easier than ever before – especially for newbies. A TYPO3 website is now up and running in 5 minutes after it has been downloaded and using the included template it is ready to use. The new introduction package offers TYPO3 newbies a configurable template immediately after installation. Using simple examples it demonstrates TYPO3 concepts and possibilities. At the same time this template can of course be used for the first own website, since e.g. the colour-scheme of the template can easily be changed without TYPO3 expert knowledge. The TYPO3 Backend has a new visual appearance with enhanced look & feel. Additionally the entire backend CSS has been revised which improves the overall backend loading speed. Custom backend skins can now be created thanks to this restructuring. Installing TYPO3 using the new installation script is a lot easier than before. In three steps TYPO3 is up and running and users can even change to their preferred database system in the process. Defaults keep the user from having to make too many decisions and therefore simplifies getting started with TYPO3. The built-in editor "HTMLarea“ is now completely based on ExtJS, the JavaScript framework that TYPO3 includes since version 4.3. It is now the first and only feature-complete Open Source Rich Text Editor (RTE) that is based entirely on ExtJS, freely available for the public and now included out-of-the-box in TYPO3 version 4.4. For the TYPO3 Backend editor this means improved loading speed of the text editor without having to give up on any of its features. The new TYPO3 Task Center allows for the creation and management of tasks for all TYPO3 backend users. Additionally editors can send notes to each other and instantly find the documents they edited recently. With its completely revised interface the new Task Center fits seamlessly into the new look & feel of TYPO3 version 4.4. http://www.typo3.org

Fivesite, the UK Company of website designers, released a new version of its unique content management system (CMS). Named Fivesuite, the CMS simplifies the process of administering and running a website. Fivesite's goal in developing their CMS was to create a product analogous to Microsoft Windows. The majority of computer users are very familiar with Windows, so a product working along the same lines would be easy to learn. Additionally, the company's web designers have also ensured that the CMS complies with all Web 2.0 and 3.0 standards. This helps users add the latest web technologies to their site, and also increases a site's accessibility and aesthetic appeal. Since every business has a unique set of needs and requirements, Fivesuite is personalized to be customized for each client. This means they are no longer limited by options they need but don't have, or vice versa. Similar to programs or applications found in Windows, Fivesuite offers “objects” for various functions. One example is the Free Style Editor Object, which allows users to change and modify pages. The CMS also allows managers to assign varying levels of privileges to users. Authorized users can even change the design and layout of pages, without any HTML or stylesheet scripting. http://www.fivesite.co.uk/

Two additional Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 standards were recently approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as American National Standards (ANS): Context-Inspired Component Architecture (CICA) Technical Specification and XML Schema Syntax Representation (X12.7); and CICA Design Rules and Guidelines (X12.71). CICA's syntax-neutral message development architecture produces standards that solve the problem of incompatible XML documents, especially those used for business-to-business exchanges. Vendors integrating predictable CICA components into their applications benefit by knowing that simple generic data, such as a name, is always constructed in the same pattern. When inserted into a business process model, the components acquire specific meaning, such as purchaser name or patient name. During development, ASC X12 members have access to CICA’s reusable component repository and use the content to construct interface standards. The components satisfy business requirements that are common across industries, with the ability to provide a single industry focus to generic concepts. In addition to components, the repository includes over 30 cross-industry approved XML business messages for Finance, Government, Insurance and Transportation. The repository supports several standards development functions: Automated XML schema generation;·End user documentation;·Flexible reporting capabilities;·Data retrieval from messages to individual components;·Data entry and maintenance. Application vendors, industry trade association members, value added networks, clearinghouses, and individuals interested in standardized XML messaging benefit from an understanding of the foundation upon which the next generation of ASC X12 messaging standards is being built: ANS X12.7 defines CICA and provides rules for constructing schemas; and ANS X12.71 establishes guidelines for CICA development and maintenance, assisting new and experienced users working with the architecture. www.x12.org

Exalead, a provider of information access solutions and search-based applications for the enterprise and on the web, announced that Yellow Pages Group (YPG), Canada's largest performance media and marketing solutions company, selected and deployed Exalead Cloudview to collect customer sentiment information for YPG's Urbanizer iPhone application. Urbanizer enables consumers to discover restaurants in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa based solely on their mood and social networks. For example, users can choose from a selection of pre-defined moods such as "romantic dinner" and "hipster snack" or use Urbanizer's equalizer function to create a custom mood based on combinations of cuisine, ambiance and service categories. Exalead's CloudView Search-based Application platform is embedded into the Urbanizer application architecture and uses semantic extraction capabilities to distill sentiment from unstructured web data from consumer comments posted to Urbanizer. Urbanizer is now available for download in the iTunes App Store as a beta version in English and French. Future versions will see cities added based on user votes as well as categories expanded to include nightlife, shopping, activities and events. http://www.exalead.com/

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) unveiled a new digital viewer technology that enables print publishers to create digital versions of their magazines. This new publishing software was developed with input from Condé Nast’s WIRED magazine, a publication that recently debuted a digital edition for Apple iPad, utilizing the new digital viewer technology. WIRED’s June issue Reader application, now available through the Apple iTunes App Store, is built using Adobe’s digital viewer software. The WIRED Reader allows readers to experience video content, slide-shows, 360 degree images and rotate content in vertical and horizontal modes. Readers are able to experience the design fidelity of a print magazine, with the dynamic interactivity of digital media. Adopting this new digital magazine medium, publishers have the opportunity to expand their advertising inventory and by reaching readers in new ways, increase circulation and deliver incremental digital revenue. Adobe plans to deliver software on Adobe Labs that will help publishers to transform InDesign CS5 layouts into applications like WIRED Reader. Because this digital magazine solution integrates with Adobe Creative Suite 5, publishers can leverage their existing workflow investments and designer skills. The WIRED Reader can be downloaded from Apple iTunes App Store and costs US$4.99.
