Bridgeline Software, Inc. has announced the release of iAPPS v2.8, which includes a series of improvements principally focused on enhancing the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and social networking capabilities of iAPPS Content Manager. The iAPPS Product Suite is a SaaS solution that unifies Content Management, Analytics, eCommerce, and eMarketing capabilities. Auto- generated 301 redirects helps eliminate negative ramifications, such as diminished search engine rankings, that can result when page names within a website are changed and improperly managed. With iAPPS v2.8, all page and navigation changes or additions to a website are updated in the XML sitemap, alerting search engines to index those changes and ensuring the maximum possible search ranking. iAPPS v2.8 also includes a series of Web 2.0 enhancements such as blog creation and management, page commenting and rating, and rich media management. The blog capabilities of v2.8 now make the addition of a blog to any iAPPS-managed website a straightforward process through a creation tool within Content Manager. Additional features enable the maintenance of iAPPS blogs such as post and comment management tools, CAPTCHA functionality to ensure comments are not computer generated, a fully functional text editor, and user registration. Supplemental features aim to improve site SEO and allow for faceted search of posts by topic or keyword, enhancing the user experience by enabling quick and easy location of relevant blog topics. http://www.bridgelinesw.com/

Clarabridge launched Clarabridge Social Media Analysis (SMA), text analytics software that allows companies to integrate social media content into their existing internal enterprise feedback for customer analysis. Clarabridge SMA accesses social media content from Alterian’s Techrigy warehouse of social media content, which currently houses nearly 3 billion pieces of data from blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace and other social media sites. SMA then removes unwanted content, sorts actionable from non-actionable topics, and applies enhanced meaning and context to conversations using included Natural Language Processing, classification, and sentiment scoring engines. Clarabridge SMA users can create custom web-scraping routines to access product review sites, discussion forums, and subscription sites, as well as integrate with internal data sources, such as emails, call center notes, and surveys. Clarabridge SMA can be deployed as a stand-alone solution, accessing only social media content, or as an add-on to existing Clarabridge text mining software implementations. It includes a suite of reporting, visualization, predictive analytics, and early warning alerts that provide product, service, marketing, operations and other teams with an enhanced understanding of content. It also incorporates a new user interface from Techrigy to help marketing and PR teams immediately monitor and participate in social media conversations. Users can listen, analyze, act upon, and measure customer experiences across every internal and external feedback channel. http://www.clarabridge.com/

Vamosa announced the general availability of Vamosa Check and Fix (C&F), with extended functionality for Web records management. C&F should offer multi-domain, multi-author, website monitoring, reporting and web records management, as well as the ability to initiate fix processing when standards are found to be compromised. Using a solution that can give Web content traceability prepares enterprises for the rigors of governance. C&F aims to help enterprises get their Web content under control and keep it there by automating policy and implementing workflow to fix content. C&F performs this processing against a set of standard and custom measurement points covering HTML standards, compliance, branding and governance. Through its dashboard, web stakeholders can monitor, review and even automatically fix issues found across their full web estate by the scalable SaaS application. The new Web records management functionality defines the control and accountability enterprises have over their Web content to support governance by providing full audit trails. Enterprises can then use C&F to take a snapshot of important Web pages that require legal control, such as Terms and Conditions. This snapshot will occur every time Web content changes, to enable the review of out-dated material, and provides a full audit trail for all changes. www.vamosa.com

eZ Systems has announced the release of eZ Publish 4.2, the latest version of its Open Source Content Management System. The new release brings improvements to the eZ Publish engine, as well as advances and new features for eZ Flow and eZ Find. A new extension, eZSI, makes its debut in the 4.2 package providing full support for the Edge Side Include standard to eZ Publish. The 4.2 release was developed by eZ Systems with contributions from eZ Publish partners and trusted community members, and is immediately available. eZ Publish 4.2 includes a new release of eZ Flow, an eZ Publish extension enabling the building and management of rich and vibrant Media portal pages through implementation of a constant content flow to visitors. The new release offers a choice of pre- made blocs for eZ Flow. The options, which include Media Carrousel, Google Map geolocation, Online users, Last Commented content or Search blocs,  provide eZ Flow users with a wide range of templates and functionalities for their sites. eZ Publish 4.2 also offers editors an integration between eZ Flow and the standard eZ Publish administration interface. Editors should now be able to control content flow in eZ Flow portal pages from the administration content management interface. The built-in content rating feature enhances Usability by enabling visitors to actively contribute and rate. Improvements to the eZ Toolbar front-end editing should ease the management of Web sites. Apart from various general enhancements and optimizations in the eZ Publish kernel and cache systems, eZ Publish 4.2 brings two new features in this area, the new DFS Cluster system and Edge Side Include (ESI) support. The new NFS Cluster system provides a native deployment of eZ Publish on several servers using a shared file system. The eZSI extension integrates ESI calls in eZ Publish pages. ESI is a simple markup language used for dynamic Web page assembly and delivery, making it possible to assemble pages from blocs requiring different refresh rates and update frequencies. eZ Find is an enterprise-grade search solution developed by eZ Systems, and based on the Apache SolR project. Full text search, external data source search, faceted search, automatic content relations, and other features have been at the heart of eZ Find.  The 4.2 release offers a number of possibilities for integrating eZ Find with eZ Publish. Predefined templates for eZ Publish and eZ Flow are now available, implementing faceted search. With the new elevate support feature, editors should be able to push "sponsored results" to the top of results provided by eZ Find. Finally, eZ Find includes a new level of granularity in the indexing and search processes, providing enhanced search relevancy, and enabling search of localised and translated content. The eZ Core library, which provides for efficient organization and layering of Ajax developments onto eZ Publish, is featured in the 4.2 release. eZ Publish is also unveiling a beta version of their CMIS library, thanks to a contribution from the NXC eZ Partner. http://ez.no/

Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) announced the release of InPorter, a new add-on utility developed by MEI for the vjoon K4 Publishing System. InPorter ingests and integrates several different types of external content and their metadata into the K4 workflow. InPorter is a server-side tool for the process of moving content into K4, an editorial solution integrating Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy, for use in production. It handles any object that can be managed in the K4 system, including InCopy documents, InDesign layouts, pictures, ads, multimedia and more. Using InPorter’s Web interface, an administrator can configure workflows for different types of content to be dropped in InPorter’s watched folders. When content arrives — from a digital asset management system, wire service, database, syndication partner, Web site or another K4 publication — InPorter checks it into K4, applying the defined metadata for that type of content. The files then immediately show up on the to-do list of the users to whom they've been assigned and can be incorporated into a publication workflow. InPorter also has specific XML-processing capabilities for ingesting XML content, automatically turning it into a new InCopy article and checking it into the K4 workflow with its metadata. Additionally, InPorter is designed to tap into the scripting and automation features built into InCopy and Adobe InDesign Server to perform various functions to articles and layouts being imported into a K4 publication. Designed to help publishers unify cross-media environments such as print-plus-online, InPorter automates tasks that previously required time-consuming manual intervention. InPorter 1.1 is available now. It is compatible with K4 version 5.9 and Adobe Creative Suite 3 or 4. http://www.maned.com/

Atex unveiled three new products designed to reinforce its position as a supplier with a common editorial, advertising, subscription and Web content management architecture supporting both print and online business models. DNA One is a Web-based system that unites advertising and news content within the Atex Polopoly Web CMS platform. DNA One provides a suite of tools to generate new digital revenues, all integrated into a single package that can be deployed as either an in-house or hosted system. DNA One automates the process of serving targeted ads and related content using metadata-driven publishing queues. With DNA One, user-generated content can be turned into a new revenue source, and contextually relevant ads can be served up based on metadata that is automatically mined and extracted from blog postings. DNA One enables third-party widgets and digital components to be plugged into the Atex Polopoly Web CMS platform. Marketplace is the new Atex online classified advertising portal designed to provide an engaging and interactive experience for buyers, sellers and shoppers. The Atex Marketplace platform uses relationship-oriented search technology powered by Transparensee’s Discovery Search Engine to give visitors faster, more accurate responses to their queries. This technology helps ensure that if an exact match doesn’t exist, then a suitable option will be provided. This, in turn, helps to keep visitors on site longer by guaranteeing they will receive results for their searches. By always returning results, Marketplace encourages visitors to continue searching, thereby increasing their page views per visit and creating more opportunities to serve banner ads on the Web site. The Atex Marketplace runs in a cloud computing environment. Atex will also introduce its latest OneView system. OneView sits above and expands the capabilities of Atex and non-Atex systems to deliver an integrated environment offering a ‘single 360 degree view of the customer’ that reaches across advertising, circulation and subscription information, marketing campaigns, customer relationship management, personalization, and consolidated business analytics. OneView is built in a Web Services framework and can be hosted or deployed in-house using a modular architecture to help reduce installation and training costs. The OneView Circulation Module provides Web tools to create, track and manage digital products. OneView Circulation’s integration with the Atex Polopoly Web content management system allows a media company to offer digital subscriptions for individual sections, personalized editions, or for combined print and online products, supporting both traditional and micro-payment schemes. http://www.atex.com

SirsiDynix has announced the general availability of SirsiDynix Enterprise 3.0.  Enterprise 3.0 offers users a single search well to discover all resources the library makes available. Those resources might include one or more library catalogs, digital collections, selected web sites, and federated resources. Because Enterprise is a hosted solution, it should scale to accommodate various amounts of searchable content. At the same time, the administrative user interface should adapt the product to the needs of both independent small libraries and consortia. Enterprise claims to be able to have a footprint as small as a search box widget or serve as a full library web presence and content management system. The Enterprise administrative user interface should give libraries the ability to define profiles for specific local patron groups. Library administrators have the ability to configure all of the following according to local needs: Search scope, users searching through a locally defined profile may search everything the library offers or a subset of particular interest; Look and feel, libraries can upload their own headers, footers, navigation panels, as well as cascading style sheets to control fonts, colors, backgrounds, and layout; Authentication, libraries can decide whether or not authentication is required for a given profile and whether to use LDAP or the ILS user repository; Available content in consortia, not all members have the same content subscriptions; Reporting, with built-in Google Analytics, libraries will have unprecedented visibility into the usage trends of their Enterprise 3.0 discovery tool; Search displays, libraries can select which fields appear in search results and detail displays as well as the arrangement and behavior of those fields; Content management., libraries that use the content management features have the ability to select which content is available to specific profiles and can use both a WYSIWYG interface for editing and creating content or a built-in HTML editor. Because all of this is configurable through an administrative user interface, there is no need to edit files on the server or to worry about whether customizations will be preserved through upgrades. http://www.sirsidynix.com/

Jive has announced Jive Market Engagement, a new solution that combines the power of social media monitoring with Social Business Software. Jive's Market Engagement Solution aims to help organizations implement a unified social media strategy to interact with customers. The solution helps to socialize observations from Twitter, Facebook, blogs, and other online sources to move faster in the moment of pain or the moment of opportunity. While a small percentage of organizations use monitoring tools, most companies rely on a patchwork of alerts, people, and email to stay on top of conversations.  While these approaches may help organizations listen in on the river of conversations occurring across the social web, they certainly don't allow companies to measure, share and engage with insights in a productive and timely way. Organizations should be able to listen, measure, engage and share insights using Jive Market Engagement to identify real-time issues, collaborate with a set of colleagues internally and ultimately more and engage in active dialogues with customers and influencers. The Jive Market Engagement Solution is designed to help organizations proactively monitor brand or product issues and competitive threats; enable quick collaboration on appropriate responses or interventions; and elevate and broaden the social conversations with a company. The "war room" environment allows for rapid decision- making from the right people within the organization. These observations are then consolidated into market summary reports, what Jive calls "Viewpoints."  Viewpoints can be shared within an organization to foster collaboration and to develop and implement appropriate responses.  Jive Market Engagement also provides the ability to analyze the effectiveness of those responses. www.jivesoftware.com/

XBRL US, a non-profit consortium standardizing business reporting in XML, announced the launch of XBRL US Labs today, a move that will expand a program of taxonomy research, development, and maintenance that has accelerated adoption of the XBRL business reporting standard in the U. S. XBRL US Labs will perform commissioned research in partnership with private and public sector partners to advance open XML standards and, in particular, harmonize XBRL financial and business reporting taxonomies with other XML messaging standards such as ISO 20022 in the financial services sector, and NIEM in the US Federal Government sector. The initiative will leverage methodologies and platforms developed by XBRL US, which provides free access to a unified dictionary based on a core 17,000-element XBRL US GAAP Taxonomy, delivered to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Sept 24, 2007, and released to the public on April 24, 2008. XBRL US approved a 2009 version update, which was released to the public in April. SEC regulations require the use of XBRL US-approved taxonomies by public companies and mutual funds that report to the regulator. XBRL US has engaged with other government agencies, and Congress, to improve the quality, cost effectiveness, and interoperability of business reporting with the adoption of XML data standards like XBRL. XBRL US research partners will commission work with funding and loaned experts working at XBRL US Labs as research fellows and interns. XBRL US consortium members have real-time access to research and development products, which will go into the public domain through a variety of education and market outreach channels, including an increasing number of virtual events and seminars that regularly attract 100 or more participants. http://xbrl.us/labs

Exorbyte has released a new white paper presenting the sum of its current knowledge and the innovations in the area of incremental search (sometimes called "auto-suggest," "typeahead," or "autocomplete"). The white paper is titled: AJAX Incremental Search Revisited - How Structured Data Matching Engines Enable a Revolutionary Incremental Search Interface. Read the white paper to find out how fast, usable, and sophisticated such AJAX search interfaces can really get. Incremental search is often opposed to "delimited search" in which a user is required to fully formulate a search query before the system starts processing that query. Incremental search, on the other hand, starts right when the user types his first few query characters. Search query suggestions or search results are instantly presented to the user based on his partially typed query milliseconds after each character stroke. On web sites these results usually appear in a drop- down list which loads and updates itself asynchronously as the user keeps on typing. Large bodies of Internet-accessible content are mostly composed of data of which users do not suspect the existence. Today's incremental search interfaces rarely give users a real sense of what, in the searchable content, resembles what they are looking for. Only a fast approximate search engine can display these suggested queries and matches with the speed and relevance required by the human mind. Such AJAX incremental search interfaces can give users a clear view into large and complex data sets. Exorbyte has made improvements on the traditional technology that underlies AJAX frameworks and AJAX applications when it realized that its advanced structured data search engine (MatchMaker) was capable of better supporting such dynamic web applications. SearchNavigator, Exorbyte's AJAX framework for incremental search, has become a leading ecommerce search solution in Germany over the past few years. It powers some of the country's largest ecommerce sites and has proven its worth with the business managers and interface designers of ecommerce companies and leading web agencies. SearchNavigator is capable of suggesting better search queries as well as near-matches using its approximate matching technology for tens of millions of records under 10 milliseconds. Its speed also allows displaying of real search results from the content, not just search query suggestions. The results can be faceted, categorized, and described just as precisely as they would be on a modern enterprise search results page. The incremental search interface then becomes more than a way to suggest queries to the user, it also enables "direct navigation" to relevant target content. http://www.exorbyte.com/

Cloakware has announced a new Open Mobile Alliance (OMA)-compliant Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution for the secure delivery of digital content across the Android open source platform. This solution, the OMA DRM 1.0 Client for Google’s Android Operating System, is a natural expansion of the company’s Windows Mobile offering and was developed in response to the groundswell of Android- supported mobile devices. A recent report from Strategy Analytics forecasts that Android will be the operating system of choice for 12 percent of smartphones by 2012, so device manufacturers, application developers, and wireless carriers must implement a robust security approach now to mitigate the unique risks and vulnerabilities associated with open source technology. To accomplish this, Cloakware’s OMA DRM 1.0 Client for Android features the OMA Content Ingestion Agent, which processes all secure content and licenses similar to Android’s normal file download process. Additionally, the client features the OMA DRM Engine, which responds to requests by device applications for access to OMA secure content for rendering, file management, or peer-to-peer sharing. The OMA DRM Engine checks for licenses, evaluates the rights language of the license and decrypts the content for the application, working in conjunction with Android software. All mandatory and optional OMA DRM features and several features designed for Android mobile devices are incorporated, including: support for all three OMA DRM delivery methods: forward lock, combined delivery, and separate delivery; peer-to-peer sharing and licensing of shared content; support for Android DRM application programming interfaces; encryption features to prevent unauthorized content redistribution; maintenance of rights objects received by the rights issuer; streamlined device integration; DRM User Interface that supports 27 languages and localized customizations. www.cloakware.com/

Finally, the latest version of the Asbru Web Content Management system includes many improvements for system integrators and developers. A number of APIs have been added including APIs for archiving, backup and publishing of content items to external servers. The new version also provides an API for integration of Asbru Web Content Management's E-Commerce features with external stock inventory systems and other external databases, services and systems. There is also new functionality, which allows organizations to enable website visitors to upload images and files. This functionality can for example be used to enable uploads of images or files to message boards or it can be used to enable job seekers to attach their CV to a job application. MadCap SoftwareExternal link has announced that MadCap Lingo 3.0 is now available. MadCap LingoExternal link, the XML-based, fully integrated translation memory system (TMS) and authoring tool solution, eliminates the need for file transfers in order to complete translation-preserving valuable content and formatting to deliver a consistent experience across multiple languages. With version 3.0, MadCap Lingo adds a new Project Packager function that bridges the gap between authors and translators who use other TMS software. Using the Project Packager in MadCap Lingo, authors should be able to work with translators to streamline the translation process, track the status of completion, and obtain more accurate project cost estimates. MadCap Lingo 3.0 also features a new TermBase Editor for creating databases of reusable translated terms, and enhanced translation memory. Through integration between MadCap Lingo and MadCap's authoring and multimedia applications, MadCap hopes to offer a powerful integrated authoring and localization workflow. Project Packager in MadCap Lingo 3.0 is designed to make it easier for authors who need their documentation translated into another language but work with a translator who relies on a TMS tool other than MadCap Lingo. Using Project Packager, the author can create a MadCap Lingo project with all the files that require translation, and bundle it in a ZIP file and send it to the translator. MadCap Lingo displays a list of all files that need to be translated, going beyond text to include skins, glossaries, search filter sets, and much more. As a result, the author can ensure that the translator receives all of the files requiring translation. This should streamline the process while enabling more accurate translation project estimates, helping translators to avoid accidentally underestimating project costs based on an incomplete file count-and protecting authors from unexpected cost overruns. Once the translation is complete, the translator sends a ZIP file with the content. The author then simply merges the translated file in MadCap Lingo, which is used to confirm the completeness of the translation. The author can then run statistical reports showing information for each project and file to determine what has/ has not been translated, how many words/segments have been translated and/or still need to be translated, and much more. The author can then export the MadCap Lingo project to a range of outputs, such as a Flare project file for online and print publishing, Word document, or even a Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) file, among others. The key new features of MadCap Lingo 3.0 are: the new TermBase Editor which enables translators to create and manage concept-oriented, multilingual terminology databases, "termbases," making it significantly easier to reuse translated terms; the ability to import and export Term Base eXchange (TBX) files, an open, XML-based standard used for exchanging structured terminological data; translation memory - Apply Suggestions to Project function, which makes it possible to view and automatically apply translation memory suggestions to an entire project, rather than just one segment, saving hours of effort; dynamic help window pane lock lets the translator keep the current help topic frozen in place while moving around in the MadCap Lingo interface, making it easier to follow steps or other information placed in the Help topic; minimize to system tray option; multiple file support allows multiple files to be selected when creating a new MadCap Lingo project, for example HTM, HTML, XML, DITA or DOC files. http://www.madcapsoftware.com/

Lyquidity Solutions innovators in enterprise spreadsheet management and developers of ComplyXL, announce the availability of the Find Combinations add-in.  This add-in will work standalone or in conjunction with ComplyXL and should help to extend the enterprise spreadsheet controls provided by ComplyXL. ComplyXL provides the key framework used by organizations for version and audit controls as well as continuous monitoring of critical spreadsheets with instant notification of changes. The Find Combinations utility gives the ability to analyze the information within the spreadsheets and is available for free general download. Key benefits of Find Combinations include: the ability to: enter or select a target value; Combinations of cell values will be computed and tested against this number for a match; specify or select a maximum group size of combinations to try; see the addresses of the cells which total to the target value; select a range of values, with the ability to select multiple areas; find the combination of values in a specified cell range that total to a given value. The group size value allows you to control the maximum size of groups that will be tested. For example, although you are looking for combinations of numbers in a list of 100 values, you may know that the number of values to be added together never exceeds, say, 5. You can then specify 5 as the maximum group size and then no groups of 6 or higher will be tested. This is important, especially in large lists, because the number of potential combinations can be vast. There are 627 combinations of 2, 3, 4 and 5 numbers in a list 10. There are 2,369,885 combinations of the same groups in a list of 50 numbers and 7,937,339 combinations in a list of 100. On a 1.8Mz laptop working through these 7+ million numbers takes about 5 minutes  - or about 20,000 tests per second. http://www.lyquidity.com/

Designed specifically for Author-it, the Syrinx SharePoint Connector extends Author-it's standard publishing capabilities by allowing users to deploy content automatically and directly into SharePoint. Content, graphics, links, navigation, and metadata within Author-it can now be published to a SharePoint list. Sharepoint indexes the information making it natively searchable and browsable as standard items in a page library and in a web-based format native to a specific SharePoint environment. Author-it's multi-channel publishing engine connects to the Syrinx SharePoint Connector allowing the publishing of content from Author-it directly into SharePoint. This partnership hopes to provide a complete content management solution, with Author-it used for the authoring, management and publishing of content, while the Syrinx SharePoint Connector deploys the published output directly to SharePoint sites. http://www.author-it.com/
