Cynapse announced the release of cyn.in - v 2.1. Every space in cyn.in now come pre-fit with application perspectives. Manually creating applications as containers to content is no longer required. Simply create or upload any kind of content (such as a wiki page or an excel sheet) within a space and the content appears in the correct perspectives. Spaces have been the pivotal aspect of cyn.in. Spaces help a group of users to create a secure work area within their cyn.in site and allocate explicit permissions to select users within it. Spaces are vital to most large companies with diverse teams. However, a substantial number of our customers and users felt the need for a simplified central collaboration area, that is accessible to every user of the cyn.in. This gave birth to the concept of the Main space. This is where All users of a cyn.in site can create or edit any content, without worrying about permissions or sharing rights. Commenting, the most used feature in cyn.in just got better. cyn.in v2.1 enables AJAX based discussions providing a live chat kind of user experience. These discussions are contained in all content types in the cyn.in. A comment posted to any content 'bubbles' the content to the top of the activity stream, pushing the content to the relevant audience. Deleting content from an enterprise system is always a concern. Especially for businesses that need to follow compliance regulations. The new cyn.in recycle bin grabs deleted content from across the site, and allows the administrator to process the deleted content as per the compliance requirements. cyn.in is available in a free open source community edition, a supported enterprise edition, as well as cost effective on-demand packages. http://www.cynapse.com/

XBRL US, the nonprofit consortium for XML business reporting standards, announced that they had completed a new draft of the XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies, and have made it available for public review. This second release of the US GAAP data tags builds on the first release completed and published on April 28, 2008 under contract with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). An SEC rule proposal, published on May 30, 2008 would require the use of XBRL for the largest public companies (with worldwide public float of $5 billion or higher), reporting as early as Q1 2009. The XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies would be the required data tags for those companies filing in XBRL format. The XBRL US support and maintenance program for continual review and revision to the taxonomies is designed to ensure that the dictionary of terms is always consistent with new accounting standards and that it reflects changes in common reporting practices in the marketplace. Hundreds of comments received since April 28, 2008 have been vetted and incorporated into this latest release along with new FASB pronouncements including FAS141R, FAS160, FAS161 and FAS163, among others. The public comment period provides an opportunity for stakeholders such as public company preparers, investors, financial analysts, auditors and software providers to review and comment on the taxonomy. The public comment period ends on January 15, 2009. Comments received will be reviewed and potentially incorporated, and the final dictionary of US GAAP terms will be available for use in February. Teragram, a division of SAS and a provider of multilingual natural language processing technologies, announced the launch of Semantic Term Manager v. 3.0 (STM v. 3.0), software that helps knowledge workers to better classify, organize and manage mission-critical information and maintain ontologies in large enterprise content repositories and databases. Featuring tighter integration with Teragram's taxonomy management product, TK240, STM v. 3.0 enables knowledge workers to automatically tag documents according to defined taxonomies, manage vast amounts of metadata across repositories and databases, and create and manage enterprise authority lists and build relationships between them. This, in turn, simplifies the enterprise search and retrieval process. This enhanced version of STM can now handle more than one hierarchy by integrating across several large data sets. For example, a corporate librarian can generate lists such as company names, product offerings and subsidiary relationships with TK240 to manage them as standalone data files or combine this information while researching other scenarios or performing targeted searches. STM v. 3.0 offers versioning capability that allows users to save different versions of the data they administer, and allows them to also go back and work on it after it has been saved. STM v. 3.0 also provides tailored ontology support, which means that data files can now be incrementally exported to XML and imported internally across the enterprise. http://www.teragram.com/

Web technologies, including Web 2.0, Internet scale, service-orientation and resource-orientation, are all exploited in CMIS. The CMIS draft specification was created by IBM, Microsoft, and EMC. After successfully shepherding the specification through its incubation phase with Alfresco, Open Text, Oracle, SAP and others, the vendors selected OASIS as and effective venue for advancing CMIS through the open standardization process. http://www.oasis-open.org

ContextCogs are snippets of relevant and contextual information pulled from third-party sources and displayed alongside standard ISYS results. Intelligence Clouds enable rapid navigation of key information. ISYS:web now handles most search requests concurrently with a higher throughput. ISYS now offers both automatic and designable search forms. To expand ISYS:web's tuning capabilities, ISYS now provides administrators with the ability to adjust the weighting on entire collections of documents.
