Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced the immediate availability of Adobe Acrobat 3D Version 8 software, a major upgrade to the desktop application for driving document-based 3D design collaboration and CAD data interoperability capabilities to anyone inside manufacturing organizations and across the global supply chain. With Acrobat 3D Version 8, CAD, CAM, CAE, and technical publishing professionals in the aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, heavy machinery, life sciences, and AEC industries can convert virtually any 3D CAD file, including large assemblies of more than 500 megabytes, into a single PDF document. The PDF file can maintain precise geometry or be compressed over 100 times smaller than the original file. Three-dimensional CAD data can also be combined with other project information, such as product specifications, spreadsheets and bills of materials, into a secure PDF document containing product manufacturing information (PMI). PMI is used to convey geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, annotations and other specifications directly on a 3D model. Acrobat 3D Version 8 supports conversion to 3D PDF from over 40 formats, including those for Autodesk Inventor, Dassault Systemes CATIA, PTC Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, and UGS NX and I-deas. The software also provides users the option of exporting precise manufacturing CAD data from PDF into neutral file formats such as STEP, IGES and Parasolid for downstream processes, including machining operations and tool and mold design. Altova announced general availability of Version 2007 Release 3 (v2007r3) of its software product line. Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced that Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 has received U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 certification. Endorsed by the National Archives and Records Administration, the 5015.2 standard on which the DoD certification is based serves as the benchmark for government and corporate organizations that manage records and documents. Microsoft utilized the SharePoint platform in meeting the DoD 5015.2 criteria, integrating Exchange Server 2007 and extending SharePoint Server 2007's records management capabilities with an add-on pack that will be available free to customers later this year. Curl, Inc. announced the availability of the public beta version of the Curl Run Time Environment (RTE) for Macintosh. The Curl RTE, a key component of the Curl Rich Internet Application (RIA) Platform, is the engine that executes Curl applications and displays their user interfaces. The Mac Beta release of the RTE is intended for customers looking to run their Curl Windows and Linux-developed applications on the Macintosh. The Curl RTE is part of the Curl RIA platform that allows developers to implement, complex enterprise Web-based applications. In addition to the RTE, the Curl platform consists of two other main components: the Curl Language, an object-oriented programming language that integrates rich text formatting, GUI layout and presentation scripting; and the Curl Integrated Development Environment, which includes tools for developing and debugging Curl applications and a Visual Layout Editor and numerous code examples. The Mac Beta RTE obeys standard Macintosh user interface conventions and supports the full range of features that are supported by the Curl Windows and Linux RTE products. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) announced the advancement of the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) Version 2.0 to Proposed Recommendation in three parts: "Part 0: Primer," "Part 1: Core Language" and "Part 2: Adjuncts." JustSystems announced the new integrated edition of its XMetaL Author Enterprise 5.0 for the EMC Documentum 5.3 platform. Designed for seamless integration with EMC Documentum Webtop, the latest edition of the company’s XML-based authoring software is a component of the new EMC Documentum Technical Publications Solution (TPS) announced also announced. The tighter Documentum Webtop integration is intended to make it easier to get up and running using Documentum dialogs and interfaces. IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced new self-learning content classification software developed to automatically categorize large volumes of enterprise information to make it easier to find, access and use. IBM's content classification software offerings were designed to help organizations understand what content exists, whether it is important, and how it should be handled. The new software also can automatically classify unmanaged content so it can be retrieved and used for business purposes. The new IBM Classification Module for OmniFind Discovery Edition and IBM Classification Module for IBM FileNet P8 provide a platform for managing all types of classification for content archiving; compliance solutions; e-mail management; content centric business process management solutions and taxonomy management, as well as in applications for case resolution, contact center and online support offerings. Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ) (Euronext Paris ISIN code: FR0004026250 - BOB) announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Inxight Software, Inc. Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., Inxight is a provider of software solutions for unstructured information discovery, including text analytics, federated search, and data visualization. Financial details of the transaction, which is expected to close in July of 2007, were not disclosed. Inxight Software is a privately-held company, with more than 120 employees and 2006 revenues in excess of $25 million. The combination of Business Objects and Inxight Software will provide organizations with a BI solution to address all of their data assets. With the combined technology, companies will now have access to both structured information within databases and data warehouses, and unstructured information such as emails, documents, notes fields, and web content. IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced a free Web application development tool made in IBM labs with a simple user-interface to allow people without technical skills in small businesses and other organizations to create applications that solve daily tasks. The IBM Development Engagement Service (DevEngage) requires no programming skills and is an interactive tool designed to develop online forms for any small business' tasks, including Human Resources, Finance, Sales or Marketing, that automate common manual processes, such as the collection and analysis of information. The IBM Developer Engagement Service requires no elaborate instructions, download or installation of any new software. IBM Development Engagement Service uses AJAX. Users develop the online forms over the Web on any Internet browser. The tool generates applications using common metaphors and practices to automate routine tasks, such as form processing where forms are distributed, filled and then entered into a database. The user is taken through a series of "wizard" pages that let him specify details such as an application name, behavior, look and feel. Once the user defines the application, the definition is submitted to the tool's Java-based server-side back-end where the application is constructed. At this point the back-end uses templates to generate the application and returns to the user a URL, pointing the user to the Web-accessible online form.
