Marketing Trends: Enabling Intelligent, Analytics-Driven Content

(Cross-Posted from the WCM Blog)

While many of our clients use analytics applications to support their WCM projects and e-commerce initiatives, other clients not yet using analytics often ask what value can be derived from doing so. The answer depends on the purpose of the client’s website.

For online commerce sites, analytics functionality can be invaluable in that it allows companies to track user behavior on the site and to correlate user behavior with conversion rates, average sales prices, and other useful sales metrics. The bottom line is that analytics almost always increase online revenues. Analytics can also be of great value to non e-commerce clients by enabling them to monitor content consumption rates and to gauge the relevance and effectiveness of content through the analysis of consumption patterns. This naturally makes analytics (sometimes built into “campaign management” modules) indispensable to marketing professionals interested either in optimizing content dissemination on information-based sites (“content portals”) or in maximizing profitability on retail sites.

Please join us on May 8, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern), for a webinar sponsored by Bridgeline Software entitled: “Marketing Trends: Enabling Intelligent, Analytics-Driven Content.”

Quality at the Source: Achieving Efficiency and Consistency with Translation-Oriented Authoring

Consistency and quality are always the goals with product support content such as technical documentation. Shorter product development cycles that result from growing business demands add to the pressure, often thwarting a documentation team's best efforts. In this global economy, pressure is further heightened by the need to add multiple language outputs to a growing list of multi-channel deliverables.

When documentation creation gets pushed to the end the product lifecycle, with translation following "somewhere" behind it, the risk of mistakes and customer dissatisfaction is high. In fact, inconsistency within source documentation leads to numerous downstream issues and costs in translation. The impact can't be underestimated as multilingual product documentation becomes more and more critical in international vertical markets.

On April 9, 2008 at 8:00 am PT/11:00 am ET/ 4 pm GMT, the Gilbane Group discusses translation-oriented authoring as a means to stop the "ripple" effects -- higher costs, poor quality, and inefficient processes -- caused by generating content without considering multilingual delivery requirements. June 26th Webinar: Web CMS as an eMarketing Platform

The Web site is one of the most multi-faceted communication tools you have at your disposal. Highly visible, dynamic, and globally accessible, most companies agree that it should be at the center of any eMarketing strategy. However, few marketers can unequivocally demonstrate that Web-based eMarketing campaigns drive brand and revenue management programs. And many are unsure of the Web site tools that can transform a Web site into a lead generation engine.

Increasing your success depends on your knowledge of the essential components of profitable marketing: content consistency, usability and context, and measurement and analysis.

It also depends on the technologies you have in your toolbox. Enter the Web CMS-driven eMarketing platform – a new kind of programmable Sales Rep, a lead generation engine, and your new best friend.

Like to find out more? Then join The Gilbane Group and Hot Banana on Tuesday, June 26th at 11am EST to understand how to fine-tune your Web site for optimal eMarketing campaign performance. Register here.

Medtronic, DITA, Single-Sourcing, and Multi-Channel Communications

On Wednesday, June 13 at 1:00 Eastern Time, we will be doing a Webinar with Medtronic and the XMetal folks at JustSystems.

While documentation is a necessary deliverable for all companies, its value and contribution to bottom-line business results is often underestimated and overlooked. For Medtronic, one of the world's most innovative medical device manufacturers, documentation is much more than a checkbox on a product release timeline—it is a direct link to customer satisfaction and patient well-being. Medtronic's Rob Kimm will discuss Medtronic's approach to delivering a better customer experience while also ensuring compliance with regulations that impact technical documentation.

Prior to using DITA, Medtronic had a decentralized, heterogeneous environment that slowed production and resulted in redundant workflows. Seven project deliverables were developed in 5 different tools, and the mutually-exclusive tools allowed for little to no ability to achieve true reuse of common content. They now can reuse common content across deliverable types, which has led to great efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

Webinar Alert: Managing Multiple Websites

We hear it time and again in our engagements with enterprise users who are solving business problems with content technologies. What's the right mix of business and IT when it comes to success? The challenge of managing their development, deployment, and maintenance can be overwhelming. Or not, given the right technology and processes for multi-website content management.

Gilbane's Bill Trippe talks with Michelle Huff, principle product director, Oracle Content Management, about effective multisite management.
