Hot Banana Unveils Multilingual Web CMS Module, Automates Web Site Translation Process

Halsey (OTCBB:JLHY), introduced a multilingual content management plug-in that automates the process of translating and publishing Web site content into multiple languages. Hot Banana announced the new feature at the Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies (Booth #130), here through Nov. 30. Fast Acquires Platefood Limited

Fast Search & Transfer (OSEAX: FAST.OL) (FAST) announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Platefood Limited. Platefood Limited was originally set up as a joint investment in 2005 by Schibsted SØK AS, Sensis Pty and FAST to offer online search services and search-based advertising solutions to media and online directories companies. As the market opportunity for online advertising solutions significantly expanded over the last year, Platefoods business model shifted to a software-centric market. FAST intends to consolidate the Platefood business into its current operations to capitalize on the market for search-based monetization solutions. FAST has acquired all the remaining shares in Platefood Limited including 19.99% from Schibsted SØK AS and 61.01% from Sensis Pty Ltd for 8,100,000 in cash. FAST owned 19% prior to this transaction. The deal closed November 27, 2006, and FAST is accounting for the transaction using the purchase method. Platefood will be included in the consolidated financial statements of FAST from the acquisition date and is expected to be accretive to the Companys 2007 earnings. The Company does not expect any changes to historical numbers as a result of the acquisition. As part of the agreement, FAST will assume all employees of Platefood, the majority of which are located in London. Intalio Donates BPMN Modeler to Eclipse Foundation

Intalio, Inc., The Open Source BPMS Company announced the donation of its trailblazing BPMN process modeler to the Eclipse Foundation. Atex to Buy Unisys Media

Atex Group Limited (Atex), backed by the Norwegian investment company Kistefos AS, a provider of software solutions and services to the global media industry, has agreed to acquire the business assets of Unisys Media, a part of Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS). Unisys Media provides large-scale news production, wire service management and digital asset management solutions to publishing organizations around the world. Its installed base includes more than 225 newspapers in 15 countries. Atex has raised in excess of $50 million US dollars to fund the Unisys Media acquisition. Going forward, Atex will be looking at further acquisitions that fit its strategy to be the No. 1 global vendor to the Media Industry. Together with all of the Unisys Media employees set to transfer to Atex, the company will employ nearly 500 people. Intalio, Inc. announced the release of Intalio|BPMS 4.3, a Business Process Management System (BPMS) that supports the BPMN, BPEL, and BPEL4People industry standards for BPM. QL2 Releases WebQL 3.1

Adobe Delivers New Hosted Service for Document Protection and Control Inside & Outside the Firewall

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) introduced Adobe Document Center, a new hosted service that enables knowledge workers to protect, share and track the usage of Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel documents. This new web-based service gives business professionals the power to grant and dynamically revoke access to documents distributed inside or outside the firewall, as well as audit actions such as opening, adding comments to, or printing those documents. Adobe Document Center is designed for the professional who shares or publishes business-, time- or version-sensitive documents. Whether it's an independent graphics designer submitting designs for client review, or a legal practice exchanging sensitive files with clients, users can customize access settings, closely audit usage of their documents, and retain control over the files regardless of where they travel. Users also have the ability to set expiration dates on documents, supersede an older version once a new version is distributed, and revoke access after distribution. They even have the ability to track who has received the documents and what recipients have done, or attempted to do, with the files. Business professionals are able to add persistent protection and dynamic controls to files in several ways. They can create PDF files with Adobe Acrobat 8 software and, through a new, one-click connection to the service, apply security settings to those documents from within Acrobat. To protect Microsoft Word and Excel 2003 files, users simply install a lightweight plug-in that enables them to apply dynamic security settings directly from those applications, as well. Soon, users will also have the ability to convert files to PDF and apply security and control settings to them directly from Adobe Document Center. To view and interact with documents controlled through Adobe Document Center, recipients simply need free Adobe Reader 8 software to access PDF files and the same lightweight plug-in to access Word and Excel files. If an author has chosen to grant document access to selected individuals only, recipients will use an Adobe IDquickly created via the Adobe Document Center siteto gain access to the files. Available now through the end of the current calendar year, Adobe is offering a free trial of Adobe Document Center for policy protecting an unlimited number of documents. The commercial release of Adobe Document Center is expected to be available in English in early calendar 2007 for a special six-month introductory subscription price of US$19.99/month, or US$199/year per user. PTC Announces Arbortext 5.3 with Additional Support for DITA

PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC) announced the newest version of its dynamic publishing software, Arbortext 5.3. This version extends PTC's support for the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA). DITA, an OASIS-sponsored initiative, is an XML-based architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering technical information. IBM donated DITA to OASIS in March of 2004, where it is now managed by the OASIS DITA Technical Committee. PTC believes that by the end of 2008, up to 80% of all new XML publishing installations will be based on DITA. DITA is one of the most important innovations in XML as it incorporates several best practices to XML publishing. First, DITA requires a modular approach to building publications, which is essential for reusing information effectively and for configuring information for the varying needs of multiple audiences. Second, DITA allows different groups to customize their application for their specific needs while maintaining the capability to share information easily with all other groups using DITA. And third, DITA increases an organization's agility to respond to new requirements by allowing adaptations of an XML application while remaining compatible with all existing downstream applications. W3C Publishes Last Call: CSS 2.1

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) CSS Working Group has published a Last Call Working Draft of "Cascading Style Sheets, level 2 revision 1 (CSS 2.1)." Comments are welcome through 7 December. Greenplum & SitePen Bring Real-time Visualization to the Web

Greenplum, proovider of open source databases for enterprise-class business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing, and SitePen, Inc., a web-development company, announced a joint contribution to the Dojo open source project. The contribution enables any web developer to bring real time charting to web applications using AJAX. With the new capability, organizations can chart online statistics to track events as they happen. For example, an online auction site could offer their users dynamic charts that track bids for one or more auctions in real-time; and polling and survey websites could show voting results as votes are talliedall without requiring users to download or install code, or "refresh" their web page when they want an updated chart. The first application of the technology is Greenplum Monitor, a browser-based database monitoring application to be released later this year. Greenplum Monitor will provide a continuously updated visual representation of the status and activity of Greenplum databases and their underlying system resources. Using real-time charts, Greenplum Monitor allows database and systems administrators to track important statistics such as cluster and machine status; table size and skew; and CPU, disk, memory, and network utilization. Adobe & Mozilla Foundation to Open Source Flash Player Scripting Engine

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) and the Mozilla Foundation announced that Adobe has contributed source code for the ActionScript Virtual Machine, the scripting language engine in Adobe Flash Player, to the Mozilla Foundation. Mozilla will host a new open source project, called Tamarin, to accelerate the development of this standards-based approach for creating rich Web applications. The Tamarin project will implement the final version of the ECMAScript Edition 4 standard language, which Mozilla will use within the next generation of SpiderMonkey, the core JavaScript engine embedded in Firefox, Mozilla's free Web browser. As of today, developers working on SpiderMonkey will have access to the Tamarin code in the Mozilla CVS repository via the project page located at www.mozilla.org/projects/tamarin/. Contributions to the code will be managed by a governing body of developers from both Adobe and Mozilla. Business Objects is partnering with text analytics vendors to help customers identify previously undetectable events and relationships within unstructured data. Oracle to Acquire Stellent

Stellent, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEL) announced a definitive agreement for Oracle to acquire Stellent through a cash tender offer for $13.50 per share, or approximately $440 million. The acquisition of Stellent will complement and extend Oracle's existing content management solution portfolio. Oracle Content Database enables enterprises to store and centrally manage unstructured content in Oracle Databases. Stellent's Universal Content Management solution works with Oracle Content Database and offers a variety of solutions for document management; Web content management; information rights management; digital asset management; records and retention management; imaging; and governance, risk and compliance. The transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close by the end of the year or early 2007. Adobe Announces Availability of Acrobat 8

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced the immediate availability of Adobe Acrobat 8 software. The new Acrobat 8 provides business professionals with tools for communicating and collaborating across operating systems, applications and firewalls. With Acrobat 8, users can more effectively engage PDF documents and forms, and more reliably and securely work using Adobe Reader. Acrobat 8 introduces several major new features for professionals in architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), IT, legal, marketing, manufacturing, and publishing. Adobe also announced the immediate availability of a free trial of the Adobe Acrobat Connect hosted service, a web conferencing and collaboration solution to offer "always-on" personal meeting rooms. Acrobat Connect enables knowledge workers to instantly connect online with nothing more than a web browser and the Adobe Flash Player software. Acrobat 8 Professional for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, and Acrobat 8 Standard for Windows, are immediately available in English, French, German, and Japanese language versions. The Mac OS X version of Acrobat 8 Professional is a Universal Binary that will install on Intel and PowerPC based Macintosh systems. Acrobat 8 Professional is available for an estimated street price of US$449, and registered users of qualifying earlier versions of Acrobat can upgrade to Acrobat 8 Professional for an estimated street price of US$159.
