Frank Gilbane is the founder and President of Bluebill Advisors, Inc., an analyst firm covering information management and content technologies. He authors The Gilbane Advisor newsletter, and NewsShark’s Content Technology News.

Frank is also an Advisor to Intrep-ID.com.

Frank was founder of the Gilbane conferences, CEO of Gilbane Group Inc, and Publishing Technology Management Inc, a co-founder and Managing Director of Technoforum SARL and the Documation conferences in North America and Europe, and Publisher of the Gilbane Report.

He was involved in information standards and technologies in the 80s and 90s, including the markup and style languages SGML and DSSSL, the parents of HTML, CSS, XML, and XSL, and focused on content management and information integration. He also spent eight years as a software developer and manager working on publishing and information management technologies.

Frank was a founder and former member of the board of the Content Management Professionals Association (CM Pros). He was also a founding member of the Board of Advisors to SGML Open (now OASIS), is a past member of ANSI, ISO, and CALS Standards Committees, the Graphic Communications Association (now IDEAlliance), the MIT Enterprise Forum, the Advisory Board of the MIT Press journal Markup Languages: Theory & Practice, served on the advisory board of the University of Washington iSchool Content Management Systems (CMS) Evaluation Lab, and a recipient of the GCA’s TechDoc award. Frank has a BA from Boston University and an MA from Tufts University in Philosophy.
